A Feel Good Episode
This is another one of those feel good episodes. No main characters are involved. Mary, Hester Sue, and Joe Kagen are the three main characters in this episode. We first met Joe in "The Fighter" when he was actually married to a character played by the actress who played Hester Sue. Later, he returned to Walnut Grove as a farmer trying to become a member of Walnut Grove's church, then helped Charles transplant the blind school to Walnut Grove. Joe and Hester Sue started a love/hate relationship.
It was nice to see Mary, Hester Sue, and Jonathan again. I really miss them not being more regular on the show (especially Jonathan and Mary). And in this episode, Joe was a GREAT guy! He took a little boy trying to face the fact that he was blind and angry at being abandoned. He gave that boy an outlet for his anger while trying to convince Hester Sue that he was the man for her.
My favorite episode is Timothy's solo near the end when they sang "Go Tell it on the Mountain." He was wonderful! By the way, the actor who played Timothy will return in the final season as the youngest Carter boy who moves into the Ingalls house.
Another wonderful episode!
