The trio of compo, Cleggy and Seymour are dressed as Santa Claus and off collecting for charity, unsuccessfully, much to Compo's annoyance. They are facing resistance from the Crums, Christmas Resistance Underground movement. Barry and Glenda have acquired a new water bed much to the annoyance of Edie, who's scared of what the neighbours will say, handmade by Wesley. An impostor Santa is in the area, the trio plan to ambush him. The trio are enlisted to protect Howard's sweet Auntie Wainwright, a demon sales person disguised as a sweet old lady.
Was it perhaps the most lighthearted sitcom of all time, they were always sweet viewing, but the early Christmas specials were always worth watching, the cameos by Danny O'Dyer's Eli were always hilarious, he was my favourite as a youngster.
A cracking cameo appearance by Jim bowen too. I loved Howard's line about kids, 'I'd rather play with Wasps,' brilliant. It's also the debut episode for Jean Alexander's Auntie Wanwright, she would become a regular within a year, a fondly thought of character.
Brilliant episode, one of the best of the Christmas specials, really funny, with some slick dialogue and sweet moments. 9/10
