The man from Hull
Prismark1025 September 2018
Eagle eyed viewers will spot an early appearance from Katherine Kelly who looks very different from her later days in Coronation Street.

More importantly Roy Clarke plays a blinder with the creation of Entwistle played by Burt Kwouk, a man from the east; Hull.

Entwistle dispenses ancient eastern wisdom and repairs electrical items. Truly and Clegg get him to pretend he is Tom Simmonite who is being chased by a debt collector.

Howard meanwhile gets to do something amusing for a change. Inspired by a book he has been reading, he pretends to be El Bandito which brings him to conflict with Billy's Robin Hood.

Director Alan Bell has tried to refresh the look of the show for its 24th series, you can spot a few little changes in some shots such as Ivy in the cafe.

Hull!!

Entwhistle arrives, and is ready to offer Eastern wisdom, wisdom from the far East.... Hull. Howard is engrossed by his book, and adopts the character of El Lobo, the smiling bandito.

In the previous episode we had a new character played by Brian Murphy, here we see the long awaited arrival of Entwhistle, played by the legendary Burt Kwouk.

It's slow to start I think it's fair to say, the usual clashes in Ivy's cafe about stale buns and Southerners, but it instantly takes a massive turn for the better when Kwouk appears. I love his character, he's funny, quirky, and adds something pretty special. What an actor.

Sadly lovely Thora Hird looks a little poorly here. Edie still manages to snare the eclair though.

With Murphy and Kwouk the rest of the series seems promising, 7/10.
