  Michael Knight : You said your husband was killed because he got too close. Too close to what?

  Joanna St. John : [shakes her head]  I don't know. Arthur worked for the Attorney General's office. He often handled cases he couldn't talk about.

  Michael Knight : Joanna, since this was a federal investigation, maybe you should let the government look into it.

  Joanna St. John : Oh, no. The government, in its infinite wisdom, would pursue this with the ardour and alacrity of a hippopotamus. I need somebody who can function outside the bureaucracy. That's why I called the Foundation.
