Discussing the Rover Metro, Alan keeps repeating "I'm not driving a Mini Metro". It was only called the Austin Mini Metro (or MiniMetro) in the first few years of its production run (beginning in 1980), afterwards it was just called the Austin Metro. Then from 1987 it was just called the Metro after the Rover group discontinued the Austin brand, until 1990 when it was redesigned and given the Rover badge, becoming the Rover Metro. In December 1994 it was renamed as the Rover 100, so Lynn is incorrect when she tries to correct Alan by saying that it's called the Rover Metro now. The car retained the same basic shape throughout its 18 year production run, which is possibly why Alan holds a low opinion of the car and thinks they've just rebadged it.
Lynn tries to persuade Alan to buy a Rover Metro. In Alan Partridge (2013), she drives a 1985 Austin Metro, a earlier version of this model.
