"House M.D." Histories (2005)

  • Factual errors: The patient Victoria Madsen is said to have been shot with a Taser discharging 60,000V, putting her heart in arrhythmia. House looks for a single impact point on her leg after accusing the Police Officer of lying about using the Taser. A Taser shoots two darts with a 7-degree vertical spread, discharging 50,000V at 2.1mA causing involuntary muscle contractions throughout the outer muscle layer of the body. The fact that the patient didn't have any feeling in her thigh would not have made her immune to the Taser. Compare the Tasers 2.1mA/50,000V to the 15A/125V in a regular U.S. wall socket - Amperes kill, not Volts. Also, Taser cartridges have ID-numbers and spread confetti-like ID-tags when discharged; as the officer is personally accountable for each issued cartridge it would have been pointless for him to lie to House.
