Trivia:
In the scene where Foreman goes to the homeless lady's area, as drawn on a picture, one of the businesses is called Kaplow's. One of the producers is named Lawrence Kaplow, though he didn't write that episode he still produced it. more
Goofs:
Factual errors: The patient Victoria Madsen is said to have been shot with a Taser discharging 60,000V, putting her heart in arrhythmia. House looks for a single impact point on her leg after accusing the Police Officer of lying about using the Taser. A Taser shoots two darts with a 7-degree vertical spread, discharging 50,000V at 2.1mA causing involuntary muscle contractions throughout the outer muscle layer of the body. The fact that the patient didn't have any feeling in her thigh would not have made her immune to the Taser. Compare the Tasers 2.1mA/50,000V to the 15A/125V in a regular U.S. wall socket - Amperes kill, not Volts. Also, Taser cartridges have ID-numbers and spread confetti-like ID-tags when discharged; as the officer is personally accountable for each issued cartridge it would have been pointless for him to lie to House. more
Quotes:
Dr. James Wilson: [House is going through Wilson's file] You know, in some cultures, it's considered almost rude for one friend to spy on another. Of course, in Swedish, the word friend can also be translated as "limping twerp". more

The operation was a success, but..., 25 March 2006

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

House must deal with a homeless woman who is dying for no apparent reason, and toward whom Dr. Foreman seems to be coldly indifferent. An unusually satisfying episode for two reasons: The acting of the actress playing the ill-fated homeless woman, who is absolutely harrowing, and a diagnosis that for a change does not lead to a happy ending. I will say no more. Just let it be noted that I had been wondering how long Dr. House was going to continue to work clichéd miracles, if you get my drift. Here we go: IMDb wants more lines than I am willing to write, and I am not willing to pad out my review in this case. Having said that, I will note that in a Season One episode, House momentarily affected a veddy British accent, which had me howling, knowing the actor is about as British as you can get off screen. Laurie appeared on a couple of TV talk shows recently, and you could cut his accent with a knife. Apparently while working, he maintains his American accent from dawn to dusk. Makes me wonder how he ever gets through the scenes with the heavily accented, blonde-haired Aussie doctor without losing his cool.
