- Duncan MacLeod: Well, how goes the battle?
- Darius: Why does that matter to you? Napoleon may lose a campaign, Wellington may win a great victory, but if they really won or lost their reputation, these men have been robbed of their most precious possession forever. You shouldn't be taking part in this tragedy.
- Duncan MacLeod: I was raised a warrior. I choose battles I believe to be just.
- Darius: Oh, I'm sure. You're quite loyal to your convictions and compatriots, but I wonder what these men think about that, about convictions and compatriotism now.
- Victor Paulus: [after Duncan has beaten up several of Grayson's men] You've saved my life again. Why are you... who are you?
- Duncan Macleod: I'm a friend of Darius.
- Victor Paulus: You didn't learn this from Darius.
- Duncan Macleod: I wasn't much of a student.
- [Duncan is fighting in the Battle of Waterloo]
- Darius: You shouldn't be taking part in this tragedy.
- Duncan 'Mac: I was raised a warrior. I choose battles I believe to be just.
- [looking out at the dead soldiers laying on the ground]
- Darius: Oh, I'm sure you're quite loyal to your convictions and compatriots, but I wonder what these men think about that, about convictions and compatriotism now.
- Duncan Macleod: Need a ride?
- Randi MacFarland: Wherever you're going.
- Duncan Macleod: Excuse me?
- Randi MacFarland: I mean, all I have to do is stick with you, you'll lead me to a breaking news story.
- Duncan Macleod: I'm just lucky that way.
- Randi MacFarland: Come on, Macleod. If the FBI and the CIA were half as good as the outfit you work for, I'd sleep better at night.
- Grayson: Sulfur. That was the beginning of it. The Chinese used it to amuse. It took someone of vision to see its true use. To create from it gunpowder. And the world was never the same again. What about you, Macleod? Ever done anything that really changed the world? Too bad. Now you never will.
- Duncan MacLeod: [voiceover] Hope doesn't conquer a superior adversary. So why do I hope to beat Grayson? Why do I think that a good life will protect me from an evil one?
- Grayson: You have immense potential. You may not realise this but there are few like you left. I've killed so many.
- Duncan MacLeod: The legend has it that Darius killed a holy man at the gates of Paris, the oldest living Immortal at the time. Then suddenly he changed. He turned his back on war.
- Richie Ryan: You think this holy guy's Quickening went to Darius and made him good?
- [Duncan gives him a look]
- Richie Ryan: Well, does that mean that, like, if a really good Immortal, like, chopped the head off a really bad ancient Immortal that he could... you know?
- [Duncan continues to give him a look]
- Richie Ryan: Victor Paulus? I've heard of that dude. He's like that guy that, uh, gives speeches, leads rallies and all that stuff, right? He's one of you guys?
- Duncan MacLeod: No, he's one of *you* guys.
- Richie Ryan: [hearing an animal howl in the distance] What was that?
- Duncan MacLeod: Cougar. Oh, don't worry, they're not on this island.
- Richie Ryan: Please tell me that they don't swim.
- Duncan MacLeod: Actually, they're pretty good swimmers.
