The Double Deckers are outside a movie studio where they hope to spot stars ( strangely, they don't appear to have brought along cameras or autograph books ). They are kept at bay by security guards, who do not want the stars unduly bothered by kids.
A limousine containing the beautiful Zizi Bagor pulls up at the gate. Before it can pass into the studio, the actress' dog jumps out and runs off. The Gang give chase, and find themselves on the lot where a war movie is being shot.
Their pursuit of the animal leads them into the heart of the studio, where a horror movie and then a children's picture involving dancers are in progress. All the while the security officers are closing in on them...
There used to be a strip in the popular 'T.V. Comic' publication entitled 'T.V. Terrors' in which three children tried to gain access to a television studio in order to secure autographs, but who were booted away ( literally! ) by a mustachioed doorman named ( rather aptly ) 'Hoppit!'. This 'Double Deckers' episode seems to have been inspired by that strip, the security guard played by David Lodge is a dead ringer for 'Hoppit', even down to the moustache.
The plot became the basis for Harry Booth's 'Go For A Take!', made in 1972 and starring Reg Varney and Norman Rossington.
The studio here is called 'Century Films' which by an amazing coincidence was also the name of the company that produced this show.
'Carry On' glamourpuss Liz Fraser plays film starlet 'Zizi Bagor' ( what a great name! ), though disappointingly she's only on screen for a few seconds. David Lodge appeared in films with both Norman Wisdom and Peter Sellers, and seems to have specialised in unpleasant authority figures such as army sergeant-majors and police sergeants. Bob Todd of 'The Benny Hill Show' fame pops as a foreign movie director who keeps falling off his cherry picker.
Funniest moment - a visual gag featuring a security guard ( Hugh Walters ) falling into a bath full of quick drying cement.
