This episode illustrates that our kids, despite our best efforts, can be quite stupid. The case in point is Alia Kelly--the college-age daughter of Chin Ho Kelly. She SHOULD have known better, but ended up dating a mobster (Erik Estrada--yes, THAT Erik Estrada). The sweet-talking Estrada made lots of promises and talked a good talk, but Alia walked into a marriage with her eyes wide open to a man she was told by many people that he was just no-good. Kids....!
The show opens with two brothers (one was Estrada) threatening a pool room operator to get him to take over-priced machines for his business. To illustrate they mean business, they blow up a car right in front of his place. However, the victim is just too scared to cooperate with Five-O. However, eventually Estrada and his lovely family go too far, as their next target turns out to be a retired cop--and he refuses to knuckle under to their pressure.
As for Estrada, he plays a Jekyll and Hyde sort of fella. On one hand he's a thug. But on the other hand, he seems sweet and kind when he's with Alia. Which is the real him? Tune in and see.
The plot was pretty good and Estrada's father was played by the ever-grouchy Simon Oakland (he played great heavies), so it's worth seeing just for these reasons. Well worth seeing.
