- Quotes
Kitty Russell: I need some answers. The scales are getting out of whack. It's hard to throw away eighteen years.
Marshal Matt Dillon: Yeah.
Kitty Russell: I know what that badge means to you, to this town, to everyone, but I'm thinking of us. I was just a kid when we met, Matt, and I was gonna live forever. I knew how things had to be with us and it was all right, but I thought that someday, some far off someday, that things would change. Well, Matt, my somedays are almost gone. I guess what I'm asking is for you to tell me to say "no" to Will Stambridge.
Marshal Matt Dillon: Kitty, you know how I feel, but that's a decision you're gonna have to make for yourself.
Anyway the story involves a gunslinger named Will Stambridge (Richard Kiley) that already had gunned down one man in another town and in on a stagecoach in the direction of Dodge. Just so happens that Kitty is on the stage when it is held up by outlaws. Will Stambridge protects Kitty's image and in the task get shot in the shoulder. Well that starts a relationship between Will and Kitty that leads them into Dodge.
Now, Will is thinking about settling down in Dodge and is courting Kitty. Kitty is nervous about starting a relationship with an gunslinger and rightfully so. It is not long before a friend of a dead man that Will killed is in town making accusations. And the towns people of Dodge want Will out of their fair city.
Amanda Blake never look so well as she did in this show but the content of the story was lacking. It just seemed all to easy to fall in love with a man she just meet and with a checkered background. Perhaps, I wanted the relationship that Matt and Kitty had protected but this show seemed to be more horrifying than sweet. People that just catch a few episodes may like this show but for hardcore 'Gunsmoke' fans this could never be liked.
