There are repeated references to "the magazine clip" of the murder weapon. To a firearms expert, there is a technical distinction between a magazine and a clip; to an average shooting sports enthusiast, the two words are essentially synonymous. To both, the phrase "the magazine clip" does not exist.

The frame-up hinges on a radio transmitter firing a pistol remotely when the transmitter comes within a certain range of an electronic firing device concealed in the pistol's magazine.
