According to the writers, Dermot Morgan was a non-smoker but as Father Ted, he smoked very convincingly in his scenes.
The title is a parodic reference to the celebrated 1964 Brtiish play "Entertaining Mr Sloane", by Joe Orton, a black comedy in which Sloane, a young, sociopathic, bisexual drifter, inveigles his way into the family circle of a lonely middle-aged woman, her closeted gay brother and their aged, invalid father, who suspects that Sloane is the man who murdered his former employer.
