This episode of "Family Ties" titled "Oops" is a great, cautionary tale of what happens when a teen girl has unprotected sex. Mallory finds out Cindy Sullivan, her friend is pregnant, unmarried, scared, and unsure of how the baby's immature father will react. She knows her overprotective mother will react poorly to a grandchild from her under 16 year old daughter. Cindy runs away from home after Mallory's mom, Elyse tells her to talk to her mother. The Keaton family invite Lynn Sullivan, Cindy's mom over. Lynn tells her daughter how she never spent time at home when she was a teen and never talked to her parents (Cindy's grandparents). It is implied Lynn had Cindy when she was very young as well. Lynn and Cindy realize they have a lot to plan for in the future. I wish there was an update to this episode. No one knows if Cindy had the baby, if it was a boy or a girl, if she had a miscarriage or an abortion. An adoption episode could be ideal. It might be interesting to see if Cindy wants to put the baby up for adoption, but the birth father wants his child. The Keatons could be the support the Sullivan family needs.
