The Season Five roller-coaster rises again to this character study of a an arrogantly egotistical actor, (James Daly in a tour-de- force), with the ultimate he-man image who drinks too much and is convinced that the blood he's spitting up is due to cancer and he's about to play his final scene in a valiant losing battle against an over-whelming disease.

Instead, the doctors find his problem is cirrhosis of the liver and cure is for him to stop drinking- and brawling and going off to hunt jaguars in South America, which is what he plans to do because that's how he's decided to go, since it would live up to his image.

Barbara Rush plays his jaded wife, who still remembers the nice but neurotic guy she married who changed into this combination of Errol Flynn, John Wayne and Ernest Hemingway when he won an Oscar for playing this type of character. Sorrell Brooke is his loyal agent/publicity man, both of them still caring but not knowing what to do.

The only problem with this one is that it's only a two-parter: it leaves Daly flying off to South America while Gillespie expresses, (a seemingly unjustified), confidence that he will sit down on a rock, exhausted and realize he can't continue to be like this. It's a crime they spent six episodes and three weeks on a mess like Story Two and only two episodes and one week on this much more interesting premise.
