This is the only episode in the series where Kimberly is referred to by the nickname "Kim", instead of her proper first name.
When Ellen's father, Ed, is talking with Philip on the balcony and thinking Kimberly is pregnant, Philip asks Ed how he'd respond to Ellen if it was her who was pregnant (which it was). Ed's response was he would give Ellen "love and sympathy" and that he'd tell her that they would "work this thing out together". However, Dana Plato, who played Kimberly, was actually fired at the end of the 1983-84 season due to her real life pregnancy because the producers were unwilling to write it into the show, saying it would negatively impact their "wholesome family comedy".
