Schizophrenia, sex, suicide...Diagnosis Redrum...Sol Agnew Gore.

Warning: Spoilers
This sobering episode centered around George Lawson, who is very disheveled and suffering from paranoid schizophrenia sadly. He also talks in anagrams, and was one of Dr Sloan's smarter medical students awhile back.

This was a sobering episode where Ethan Foster is cheating on his wife so he can marry Cynthia Fielding. Ethan is played by William Converse-Roberts, who has a resemblance to Ray Romano. The murder victim is Richard Fielding, who doesn't look like Joel McHale, even though Joel McHale plays him. We all know Joel achieved huge star status in Community several years later. What was really shocking was when Ethan committed suicide by walking into the ocean before the police could arrest him. I never saw that coming. Anyway, Ethan's wife is Sophie Foster, who is played by the gorgeous Kaitlin Hopkins.

Talking of anagrams, one amusing line in this episode, which was screened on 2 November 2000, is when Jesse tells Mark that a computer can solve anagrams!!

This episode was screened 5 days before the epic US presidential election between Gore and Bush Jr. Funnily enough, in this episode George calls himself Sol Agnew Gore, which is an anagram of George Lawson. Very clever and prescient because of the Gore link. Also, coincidentally, Scott Baio was in the main cast of Diagnosis Murder for its first 2 seasons (1993 to 1995), and who would have thought that over 20 years later he would be a prominent Trump supporter in the 2016 presidential election?

Peter Gregory, who played George Lawson, should have been nominated for an Emmy for his role. I think the producers should have considered a spin-off series for George, where each week he wanders around the country (like Route 66) encountering new characters, situations, and saving a life or two. The series could be called Sager Gone Owl, which of course is another anagram of George Lawson.
