Pamela Mann is a widow in Mexico owned Texas and depends on her oxen for her livelihood. But Sam Houston is leading a drive for independence and needs her sturdy animals for cannon movement but the spirited Pamela resists all pleas.
A strong-willed farming widow loans her oxen to the army to transport a cannon, but the Sam Houston refuses to return them to her as promised in time for her to plant her crops. She insists on taking them home with her. As she returns to her farm with the oxen, two soldiers trail her in order to steal them back for Sam Houston. Which is more important? The cannon or her crops in winning the war?
