J.R. Ewing : Sue Ellen, you want it all. You want the Ewing name, the privileges, the freedom to act like a tramp, and that's all you ever did want.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Believe it or not, J.R., I loved you when I married you.
J.R. Ewing : That's a long time ago. Been a lot of action since then.
Sue Ellen Ewing : On both our sides.
-
Kristin Shepard : [at Ewing Oil offices] Good morning.
J.R. Ewing : Well, good morning.
[hangs up his hat, touches her on the back of her shoulders]
J.R. Ewing : That's nice.
Kristin Shepard : Can't it wait till tonight?
J.R. Ewing : Well, I guess it has to.
Kristin Shepard : My place at seven?
J.R. Ewing : No, I can't, darling. Gotta have dinner with the family.
[sits down behind his desk]
J.R. Ewing : Wanna earn your salary?
Kristin Shepard : I thought I was.
J.R. Ewing : Get Cal McBride on the phone for me.
Kristin Shepard : [frowns] The private detective?
J.R. Ewing : That's nothing for you to worry your little head about.
-
Kristin Shepard : [sister saw them together] Sue Ellen! Oh, I wish I knew you'd gonna be in town. You could have joined us for lunch.
J.R. Ewing : Oh, Sue Ellen has been kinda busy lately. I doubt if she could have spared the time.
Kristin Shepard : We were entertaining some clients. You would have enjoyed it.
Sue Ellen Ewing : [coldly] I never interfere in my husband's business.
Kristin Shepard : You know, Sue Ellen, this job has turned out better than I expected. J.R. is a terrific boss, and the business is very exciting.
Sue Ellen Ewing : [coolly] I'm so happy you found your little niche in life, Kristin.
Kristin Shepard : [spitefully] Have you found yours?
Sue Ellen Ewing : J.R. certainly thinks I have.
J.R. Ewing : Oh, I think a married woman with a baby to look after has a niche.
[as Sue Ellen heads off:]
J.R. Ewing : Where are you off to, honey? Another committee meeting?
Sue Ellen Ewing : Back to my niche, J.R.
Kristin Shepard : [as Sue Ellen walks away] Do you think she knows?
J.R. Ewing : Do you care?
[smirks, checks time]
J.R. Ewing : Let's go to work, darling.
