John Beck: Mark Graison

Quotes

  • Mark Graison : Fact of the matter is the oil business is in a state of flux at the moment.

    [waiter brings drinks]

Mark Graison : The world markets plunged last year, so fast that every oil man in the country lost his stomach. Some of the independents lost more than that. They were... swallowed up for pennies on the dollar by larger outfits who were in a better cash position. Are you following all this?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Not really.

Mark Graison : Oh. Well, let me explain again. You see...

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Oh, I wish you wouldn't.

    [shakes her head]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Mark, do you realize, the only thing we've talked about since you picked me up at the office is business?

Mark Graison : Well, I thought that's the subject closest to your heart.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I think I'm going too fast. I think I'm trying to learn too much too soon. Besides, what happened to all that talk about flying me away to exotic places? Eating mangoes on sun-swept beaches?

Mark Graison : You know, first of all, I said *nothing* about eating mangoes. I can't *stand* mangoes. And secondly, I thought the only talk you were interested in... was business.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Don't be silly.

Mark Graison : I'm not being silly, I'm serious.

    Pamela Barnes Ewing : Okay.

    Mark Graison : Okay, what?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Okay, I get your message.

    [smiles]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Maybe I can find a medium between business and, uh... the other things.

Mark Graison : Well, that's not a half bad idea. So what do we talk about first?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Oh, the other things.

Mark Graison : Well, I can't tell you how happy I am to oblige.

    [she smiles, they kiss]
