- Bobby asks Jenna to marry him and she eagerly accepts, Clayton pushes to wed Miss Ellie before J.R. and Jessica can interfere, and Pam and Mark's future clouds over after she receives some tragic news.
- Pam and Mark continue to plan their upcoming nuptials. Mark still does not know that his time is limited. Cliff asks Pam to accompany him on a trip to the Gulf to check on his oil rigs, which have not provided a return. Peter has not showed up around Southfork, due to his arrest. Unaware, Lucy and John Ross worry something is wrong.
Katherine thinks that JR has showed Bobby a tape of them together, so she confesses to Bobby that she slept with JR. Bobby tells her that he hasn't seen the tape and that they will only ever be friends. Katherine is embarrassed and heartbroken. Bobby leaves her at The Oil Barron's and storms out.
Clayton tries to get Miss Ellie to marry him right away, so JR and Jessica can't interfere.
JR and Bobby have a classic pre-dinner sitting room argument. JR tells Bobby to hurry up and seal the deal with Jenna Wade. Bobby questions his motives, but agrees, and asks Jenna to marry him.
Sue Ellen bails Peter out of jail. She and JR take him to see a lawyer. His changes of dodging the charges are not good, but JR vows to be helpful (though he is the one who set him up in the first place and has no intention of being helpful).
Mark travels to Houston to see his Doctor, after a drunken Katherine almost spills the beans about his fatal disease. The doctor breaks the news to Mark that he is dying and he has very little time left. After spending one more loving night with Pam, Mark loads up his Gatsby convertible and, tearfully, leaves forever.
Clayton's sister, Jessica, starts an argument with him about not inviting Dusty to his wedding. Clayton becomes upset and storms off.
Cliff's oil rigs are not producing and he continues to fall into the red. He begs the bank for another loan and continues to move money around to try to make his investments work.
Cliff confesses to Pam the financial trouble the oil rigs are in. Pam gets a phone call that Mark's plane blew up while flying over the gulf.
