- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Is that an apology? I don't believe my ears. Your daddy must have given you a tongue-lashing last night, J.R. Because what I am, you made me. And you're stuck with me. You and your precious family.
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: [Sue Ellen is being committed to Fletcher Sanitatium] Don't leave me here, J.R.!
- J.R. Ewing: I've got no choice, Sue Ellen. You can't take care of your own life, much less the life of your child. And I can't trust you to keep your mouth shut when you've been drinking. We've both got too many secrets to risk them getting out.
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: I'll be careful, J.R. I promise.
- J.R. Ewing: Damn right you will. At least until the child is born. Now it's best for everybody, darling.
- [the men in white coats drag Sue Ellen away]
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Please don't, J.R.! I'll do anything you say. Anything! Just don't...
- J.R. Ewing: [calls out to the men] You boys take care of her now!
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: I'll get you for this, J.R.! if it's the last thing I do! I don't know how yet, but I'll get you...!
- Ray Krebbs: Have you been drinking?
- Lucy Ewing: [extremely woozy] You know I don't drink anything... but milk!
- [giggles]
- Miss Ellie Ewing: [to herself] I gave you up too soon, J.R. I should have held on to you a little longer...
- J.R. Ewing: You were carried into this house drunk last night. My momma saw you, my father, everybody in the family.
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Obviously it wasn't you who did the carrying.
- Miss Ellie Ewing: You're power hungry. You're like your daddy in that. But he has redeeming qualities. His love for his sons, for one. I don't know that you have any redeeming qualities, J.R. Is there anyone you love?
- Bobby Ewing: [takes Lucy by the shoulders, looking her in the face] Is that how you want to go through life, doped out of your mind, drugged so you don't feel anything? Honey, if you don't feel pain, you don't really feel anything, and that's not living.
- Bobby Ewing: Tougher than they were last year. Nothing gets built in the state of Texas without the approval of your brother. Cliff Barnes has become a very powerful man.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Well, I hope it makes him very happy.
- Bobby Ewing: Do you?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I still love him, Bobby. I just don't like him anymore.
- Bobby Ewing: Well, I think you're gonna have to return his phone calls one of these days.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Probably. But I don't have to yet, do I?
- Bobby Ewing: [smiles] It's up to you.
- [gets up from desk]
- Bobby Ewing: Where do you wanna eat?
- [grabs coat]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Oh, I don't care... as long as it's Italian.
- [smiles]
- Bobby Ewing: [saw just how bad things are with Sue Ellen] I think I'll go have a talk with my folks.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I think it's about time.
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: [coming to] What is it?
- [Pamela makes soothing sounds]
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: What's the matter?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Sue Ellen, just go to sleep.
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Pamela?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mm?
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Sit down.
- [Pamela sits down next to her]
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: Why won't Cliff talk to me? I called him tonight, and he...
- [tearfully:]
- Sue Ellen Shepard Ewing: He just won't talk to me.
