Victoria Principal: Pamela Barnes Ewing

Quotes

  • Pamela Barnes Ewing : [shouting at J.R]  How! How could you have done it?

    [turns to Jock]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : And you! You let him!

Jock Ewing : Politics is politics.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : And that's your excuse? For taking a fine, good man and destroying him?

    [turns back to J.R]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : And you, you don't need any excuse. You'd do it for your own self-serving entertainment!

  • Bobby Ewing : Pamela, do you understand what this election means to my family?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Oh, I understand exactly what it means to your family. It's a way to get back at my brother!

Bobby Ewing : Now you're being simplistic, Pamela, and you know it. And besides, your brother hasn't exactly had a hands-off policy when it comes to us, now has he?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, what do you expect him to do? If he doesn't do something, the Ewing family is going to control everyone and everything!

Bobby Ewing : Oh, stop it, Pamela. You're starting to sound like that kneejerk radical brother of yours.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : If being a "kneejerk radical" means being against exploitation, corruption, and greed, I'm proud to be one!

Bobby Ewing : Exploitation and corruption of who? Of what? Look, my daddy built an empire here because he was smarter than the next guy and he worked harder and he was luckier. But anybody with the same qualifications can do the same thing.

  • Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'll tell you something. I don't know how to play by your rules. But someday I will. And you're going to pay for what you've done to my brother!

JR Ewing : No, you won't. You won't use any of those rules against me or any other Ewing. You'll do just as we do. You'll use them to protect your own interests.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Then God help me!

  • Cliff Barnes : Now, the hospital association last year had a fashion show. Raised fifty thousand dollars.

    [scoffs]

Cliff Barnes : Fifty thousand dollars I can use. I can use half of that.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Uh-huh. What do you want me to do, Cliff?

Cliff Barnes : I want you to run a fashion show.

[Pam raises her eyes, groans, walks on]

Cliff Barnes : Well, aren't you just overjoyed at the prospect of helping me out.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well... it's mainly my job. I just don't know if I'll have the kind of time...

Cliff Barnes : Come on, Pam! What, you're getting flak from the Ewings because you're involved in my campaign?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, what do you think? Of course I am!

Cliff Barnes : Well, you can't back out now, because everybody knows that you're working for me. And how would it look if my sister were to desert me? That would be a great job for public relations, right?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'm not deserting you, Cliff. It's just, under the circumstances, I wanted to keep

    [shakes her head]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : kind of a low profile.

Cliff Barnes : You can't keep a low profile in politics. And especially when you're related to the candidate. You know, you're the only one I've got to count on. I need the money.

    [Pam looks conflicted]

Cliff Barnes : And the Ewings and their crowd, they can buy this election. And if I don't have money for TV time...

    [makes pitiful face]

    Cliff Barnes : I don't stand a chance.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [groans, grins, then makes a little fist]  All right. Oh, there's gonna be hell to pay.

Cliff Barnes : I knew I could count on you.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Yeah, I'll bet you did.

Cliff Barnes : [as they walk off]  Hey, listen, you know, with your connections at the store...

  • Bobby Ewing : You know, you're gonna have to talk to me, we're still married to each other.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [smirks]  Yeah, but we're on opposite sides of the fence.

Bobby Ewing : [sits down, sighs]  How did she die?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [shakes her head]  I don't remember... Remember?

Bobby Ewing : You were never good at lying. The tips of your ears turn red.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [smiles, looks down]  I can't tell you, Bobby. I'm sorry.

Bobby Ewing : Honey, if you feel you can't trust me, well... that says something about the marriage, doesn't it?

  • Cliff Barnes : Any idea who the Ewings are backing?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : No. They're deciding that right now.

Cliff Barnes : Would you tell me if you knew?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Of course I would! Unless Bobby asked me not to.
