The title is a contradiction of the novel title You Can't Go Home Again by Thomas Wolfe.
One of the last episodes featuring Lisa Bonet's character has a significant storyline after tension between Bonet, Cosby, and series producers lead the showrunners to decide to fire her. After this episode, Bonet will only appear in three more shows during the rest of the season, "Attack of the Killer B's," "Total Control," and "Cliff and Jake," yet Bonet only has a minor part in those episodes. These shows were filmed shortly after "You Can Go Home Again" yet were held over a spread out during the rest of the season. This was done partly to gradually phase out Denise Huxtable and somewhat because Bonet was let go from the series shortly before its mid-season hiatus. Denise Huxtable would become an offscreen character during season eight.
