The title is from a line from the poem "Casey at the Bat" written in 1888 by Ernest Thayer and later popularized by vaudeville renditions.
Ahmad Rashad, who at the time was married to Phylicia Rashad, is heard as the quiz show announcer in this episode.
In this episode, Joe "Playday" Sims and Frank Potter, the two retired Negro Leagues Baseball players, are played by Joe Black and Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, two retired baseball players. Black was a pitcher for the Baltimore Elite Giants, a Negro Leagues team, from 1943 to 1950, before switching to the Major Leagues. (Black brags to Elvin Thibodeaux that he "once struck out Frank Robinson," to Robinson's dismay.)
