Stuart Whitman captures killer Harry Dean Stanton who was left then in Percy
Herbert's charge. Then Stanton escapes and Herbert tracks him to Texas where he kills him and then finds out hes a deputy of Sheriff Clifton James.
James and Whitman have some nasty history and James is most corrupt. Herbert gets a kangaroo court trial and is sentenced to hang. But he manages to escape, chained to another capital prisoner Suzanne Pleshette.
Pleshette and Herbert manage to escape shackled to each other. The bulk of the story is the two of them shackled together trying to escape a corrupt and vicious sheriff.
Pleshette makes one excellent spitfire and James took out a patent on playing corrupt redneck sheriffs of any era.
Fans of James and Pleshette should not miss this episode.
