This is an episode so absurd, so outrageously bizarre, that it transcends mere sitcom and becomes sublime stupidity. Rebecca gets stuck in Evan Drake's closet and Norm has to rescue her... the episode may be part two of the painting adventure they started in "Paint Your Office." It is so original, so unusual, that you can't judge it by normal standards, and you have to love it.
Sam is stuck in a cheesy B-story about a dancing-addicted mental patient, but the heart of the story is in getting Evan Drake out of bed so that Rebecca can escape. The escalating absurdity of the situation as well as the sheer number of times that Norm returns is just hilarious. It plays like a fever dream, a hallucination so strange it can't possibly be real. Tom Skerritt plays Evan Drake completely realistically... you can feel his exhaustion and disbelief when his house-painter refuses to leave him alone for unknown reasons.
The final shot of the Cheers gang applauding Norm carrying Evan's tiny body is the perfectly outlandish sight gag that was the hallmark of this sixth season. Not to be missed.
