The client is June Starkey and she wants to find out what happened to her husband. Only no one seems to know or wants to talk about what happened to her husband.
It might be Mr Starkey might not had been a popular man, or he did something shady. Clay Culhane fears that he is dead.
Eventually Nora Travers tells Clay what Starkey was really like, the mayhem he caused. Mr Starkey was responsible for the death of Nora's husband and her father getting disabled.
It might just be that Clay Culhane might soon be defending from a charge of murder. However when he views the gun she used.
Clay Culhane has another theory. Marshall Gib Scott is prepared to back him.
The story gives some back story to Nora Travers. The ending is maybe a little too convenient.
