"Batman: The Animated Series" Second Chance (TV Episode 1994) Poster

Kevin Conroy: Batman

Quotes

  • Batman : You hated Harvey Dent, and would do anything to destroy him.

Two-Face : Why not? He was going to destroy me. Just as I'm going to destroy you!

  • Batman : You're your own worst enemy, Harvey.

  • Batman : Harvey, give me your other hand! I need both your hands to save you!

Two-Face : [hanging from a ledge]  What, what should I do? The coin won't tell me...

Batman : It won't tell you ANYTHING! I switched coins when you grabbed me! It's a trick coin, it'll always land on edge! It's YOUR choice now, Harvey: life or death, the coin or me!

[after a pause, Dent drops the coin]

Harvey Dent : Batman, help me.

    [Batman pulls him up...]

    Two-Face : Never!

[lets go of Batman's hand, and falls]

  • The Penguin : Dance, my little ones. Dance for Penguin.

    [birds dance]

The Penguin : Excellent. A Terpsichorean triumph.

    [sees Batman outside his window]

The Penguin : And what might you be doing out there? Catching insects for dinner?

Batman : I'm looking for Two Face.

The Penguin : Why? Did you lose him?

[chuckles as he goes to feed his birds]

Batman : Somebody kidnapped him from Gotham Central tonight. You and he had a disagreement some time ago, didn't you?

The Penguin : It's true. Harvey stole a rara avis right out from under my beak several months ago. A jewel-encrusted statuette of a two-headed roc. It was worth millions. But, my dear rodent, I'd never kidnap a fellow rogue out of a sickbed. It just isn't done.

    Batman : Honor among thieves?

The Penguin : Absolutely. If I were going to attack Harvey, I'd do it face-to-face to-face, so to speak. Like this!

[sends his flock of birds to attack Batman before pushing the Dark Knight down the wall of the prison. A searchlight comes on]

The Penguin : Over here, you fools. He's down there. Down there.

[the searchlight shows that Batman is gone, much to Penguin's disappointment]

  • Batman : You kidnapped yourself. I should have seen it right away. One red herring clue wasn't enough. You had to leave two.

Two-Face : I couldn't let that wimp Dent destroy me. I had to teach the little man some respect. Everybody needs respect.

  • Batman : The van was registered to Rupert Thorne.

Robin : But Harvey was in the sedan. It was headed for Stonegate.

Batman : The Penguin's at Stonegate. He's had a grudge against Two-Face for a while now. Maybe this is his revenge.

Robin : Sorry I wasn't able to stop him.

Batman : I'm sure you did your best.

Robin : Don't gush all over me. It's embarrassing.

Batman : Sorry. Harvey's my friend. I'm worried about him.

Robin : Right. And I'm just a kid in tights.

  • Dick Grayson : [Two-Face is led back into Arkham]  He's right. You're always there for him.

Bruce Wayne : Yes. Just like you're always there for me.

Dick Grayson : Hey, what are friends for?

  • Robin : You think Dr. Crest is right? You think this operation will make Harvey okay again?

Batman : I don't know. We can only hope.

  • Batman : Doctors and nurses working in the O.R. wear paper socks over their shoes. So this footprint had to be made by one of the kidnappers.

[touching it and rubbing his fingers together]

Batman : Masonry dust. I know where to find him now.

Robin : Find who? Who did this?

Batman : Harvey's worst enemy. I'll take it from here.

Robin : Wait a second. You might need me.

Batman : Not this time, Robin. This is something I have to do alone.

  • Two-Face : See this? It's the remote control for that detonator. Once my boys and I get down to the ground, I'll use it to set off that dynamite. Unless, of course, the coin says different. What do you say, Batman? Feeling lucky?

Batman : [restrained]  Looks like I don't have much choice.

[Two-Face flips the coin into the air]

Batman : Let it hit the floor! I wanna see it!

Two-Face : [seeing it land on its edge]  That can't happen.

[flipping it again, with the same result]

Two-Face : No, it isn't possible! It can't land on edge. It has to be heads or tails. How can I decide if it isn't heads or tails?

    [trying a third time]

Two-Face : On edge. It's still on edge.
