"The Psychiatrist" finds Wojo accused of mistreating a suspect that resisted arrest, caught red handed with the victim's purse. Fred Sadoff (6 episodes) plays Dr. Paul Nathan Esterhazy, who wants to put Wojo on restricted duty, then evaluate the rest of the 12th precinct. His encounter with Inspector Luger is a comic gem, Luger dissing the findings of 'kookaboos' who don't know what it's like to deal with all those 'freaks' out there. Dr. Esterhazy is revealed to be paranoid about the entire police department, nowhere near the astute psychologist that Barney is. Martin Garner (5 episodes) plays concerned citizen Mr. Frumkus, who wants purveyors of pornographic material behind bars. Harris enjoys going over the 'evidence' ("I'm taking a crash course in degeneracy...boy I ain't never seen nuttin' like this before!"). Mr. Frumkus agrees, saying they'd never put stuff like that in front of a police station (Yemana: "you gotta walk three blocks!"). Fish learns that the premium on his life insurance policy has gone up 50 bucks, and can't find any company willing to cover him ("oh, if Bernice finds out I don't have any insurance it would kill her...and she's not covered either!").
