After the shock revelation of the previous episode there is no let up with this episode opening with Sydney and Vaughn facing a North Korean firing squad... the story then goes back seventy two hours to show how they got there... The CIA receive a coded message which indicates that a high level Covenant operative wishes to defect. Sydney and Vaughn are tasked with the job of retrieving him not knowing that their travel details have been leaked by Lauren. When their plane is shot down Jack is forced to seek the help from his ex-wife in order to extract Sydney from North Korea.
This episode is the first to feature Isabella Rossellini as Sydney's aunt Katya Derevko who's motivations we can only guess at at this point. She does a good job and it is fun to see her sparring with Jack as she gives him a task that is bound to have future repercussions. There are good action scenes including shoot-outs, an exploding aircraft and rather painful looking use of a pair of kebab skuas.
