Quotes

  • Jack Bauer : [Over the phone]  hey, it's me

Audrey Raines : Hey, are you on your way back here?

Jack Bauer : Yeah, how much of the weaponry have been accounted for so far?

Audrey Raines : Seventy two percent: we're having problems getting confirmations from the Midwest

    Jack Bauer : Why?

Audrey Raines : There several convoys shipping weapons to be dismantled in accordance with the Arms Reduction Treaty. A lot of them were rerouted after the train bombing this morning

Jack Bauer : Just use local channels, all weapon transports have to check in with regional substations, just call them directly

Audrey Raines : Alright, I'll do that

Jack Bauer : How you holding up?

    Audrey Raines : I'm ok

Jack Bauer : What have the doctors told you about Paul?

Audrey Raines : Their having a hard time keeping him stable

Jack Bauer : Just hang in there, he'll fight through it

    Audrey Raines : Yeah

Jack Bauer : Tell Michelle I'll be there in twenty minutes

  • Bill Buchanan : [after the President ends the conference call]  I'll have Curtis start the interrogation with Prado

Jack Bauer : You and I both know we can't afford to be wasting time like this

Bill Buchanan : You heard the President: his not going to let us touch this guy

Jack Bauer : The President's not here, you are

Bill Buchanan : If I authorize this, they'll know in ten minutes and we'll all be out the door

Jack Bauer : What if I can find another way to handle this that wouldn't implicate anyone else but me?

Bill Buchanan : I'm not going to authorize that

Jack Bauer : You don't have to

Bill Buchanan : What'd you mean?

Jack Bauer : Accept my resignation

Bill Buchanan : And if I do that, what then?

Jack Bauer : Release the suspect

    Bill Buchanan : Release?

Jack Bauer : We don't question him, we don't charge him, we just let him go: he won't need a lawyer or a Marshall

Bill Buchanan : You're going to take him on as a private citizen?

  • Jack Bauer : [Over the phone]  are you still in briefing?

Bill Buchanan : Yes, you're on speaker, what've you found?

Jack Bauer : Fred Lawton and I just found a rough reconstruction of the red chapter: we're getting that over to you now

Bill Buchanan : It's Bill Buchanan, summarize our exposure, what information exactly does Marwan now have in his possession?

Jack Bauer : The red chapter lays out the location of our domestic nuclear arsenal. The inventory is in thousands, many of the weapons are in transit as part of our standard shift operations

Audrey Raines : Why can't DOD just secure these weapons?

Bill Buchanan : Because the number of weapons are in-between checkpoints, it would take over an hour to account for all of them. Listen everyone remember Marwan only needs one

Bill Buchanan : Alright, we'll get on this immediately. Get back here as soon as you can and help Audrey liaise with DOD, we need to account for every single weapon documented in that chapter

Bill Buchanan : I'm on my way

  • Jack Bauer : [while in the monitoring room, referring to Weiss]  Marwan called him Amnesty Global: this is his play

Bill Buchanan : That means Prado definitely knows something Marwan doesn't want us to hear, we still get around that court order

Jack Bauer : We need to call the President now

  • Chloe O'Brian : Have you heard about missing warhead?

Jack Bauer : Yeah, did FBI link up with Iowa's Sherriff's yet?

Chloe O'Brian : Yes, I'm sharing both databases

Jack Bauer : Ok good, who's questioning the prisoner?

Chloe O'Brian : You mean Joe Prado? The guy Curtis brought in?

    Jack Bauer : Yeah

    Chloe O'Brian : No one

Jack Bauer : What're you talking about?

Chloe O'Brian : An attorney came in from Amnesty Global with a court order saying we weren't allowed to be alone with Prado: Buchanan's on the phone with the judge who signed the order now

  • Jack Bauer : What the hell's going on here? You've got a key witness and a missing warhead, we should be pressing this guy with everything we've got

Bill Buchanan : The judge won't budge, if we want to appeal, we have to wait until 7am to take it to an Appellate judge

Jack Bauer : Does he know what the stakes are?

Bill Buchanan : He does but his feeling if Prado has no record, he shouldn't be like a terrorist

Jack Bauer : What about the fact he was caught meeting with a known terrorist in the middle of the night on a pier?

    Bill Buchanan : Circumstantial

Jack Bauer : We need to interrogate this prisoner, I don't care what kind of court order their waving at you

Bill Buchanan : I agree but his got his attorney with him and a US Marshall protecting his rights

Jack Bauer : Where is his attorney?

Bill Buchanan : In holding with Prado

  • David Weiss : [while in an interrogation room with Curtis standing nearby]  who are you?

Jack Bauer : My name is Jack Bauer, I'm with the Department of Defense, and you are?

David Weiss : [Stands up, handing him his business card]  David Weiss: Amnesty Global

Jack Bauer : [to Curtis, while looking at his watch]  why is the suspect not in his restraints?

Curtis Manning : Amnesty Global's orders supersedes our authority

David Weiss : [to Jack]  my client is cooperating: his not trying to go anywhere, all he wants to be treated like any other US citizen

Jack Bauer : Your client aided and abetted the people who attacked the President of the United States today

David Weiss : You don't know that

Jack Bauer : As a matter of fact we do

David Weiss : Then charge him

Jack Bauer : May I speak with you privately?

  • Jack Bauer : [Talking privately]  you and I both know that your client isn't "clean" and that he conspired to steal a US nuclear warhead

David Weiss : All my client wants is due process

Jack Bauer : These people not going to stop attacking us today until millions and millions of Americans are dead: now I don't want to bypass the Constitution but these are "extraordinary circumstances"

David Weiss : The Constitution was born out of "extraordinary circumstances", this plays out "by the book", not in the back room with a rubber hose

Jack Bauer : I hope you can live with that

  • Jack Bauer : [Returning to the interrogation room]  how'd you get here so fast?

    David Weiss : What?

Jack Bauer : Who asked you to represent Mr. Prado?

David Weiss : I don't have to give you that information

Jack Bauer : [to Curtis while looking at Weiss]  from the time of his arrest, did the suspect have the time to call a lawyer?

    Curtis Manning : No

  • Bill Buchanan : [During a conference call]  Mr. President, this is Bill Buchanan, I'm here with Jack Bauer

President Charles Logan : Yes Bill, what'd you have for me?

Bill Buchanan : Sir, in the process of trying to track down this missing warhead, we brought in a prime suspect for questioning

Mike Novick : What've you learned?

Bill Buchanan : Well, that's the problem Sir, right now our hands are tied: Amnesty Global has interceded on his behalf

President Charles Logan : Interceded on what grounds?

Bill Buchanan : His a US citizen with no previous record

President Charles Logan : Why is he a suspect?

Bill Buchanan : We found him with Yosik Khatami, a man linked to today's terrorist events

President Charles Logan : I don't understand, it doesn't violate any law to question a suspect

Mike Novick : [Asking permission to join their conversation]  Mr. President, if I may?

President Charles Logan : [to Mike]  go ahead

Mike Novick : [to Jack]  am I correct in assuming this suspect is unlikely to respond to the kind of Q and A his lawyer would permit?

Jack Bauer : That's correct: if we want to procure any information from the suspect, we're going to have to do it behind closed doors

President Charles Logan : You're talking about torturing this man?

Jack Bauer : I'm talking about doing what's necessary to stop this warhead from being used against us

President Charles Logan : [to Bill, before Walt presses the hold button]  give a moment

  • President Charles Logan : [to Mike, referring to CTU torturing Prado]  what'd you think?

Mike Novick : I think we need to do whatever it takes to find Marwan

President Charles Logan : [to Walt]  weigh in

Walt Cummings : This makes me nervous

    President Charles Logan : Why?

Walt Cummings : Should this man be innocent as he claims he is, your first act as President is to sanction his torture? That'll forever haunt your Presidency

President Charles Logan : [Continuing the conference call]  alright gentlemen, here's what I'll agree to: I'll call a special session with members of the Justice Department and we'll discuss this. I'll have an answer for you in twenty minutes

Jack Bauer : Mr. President, this thing could be over in twenty minutes

President Charles Logan : It's as far as I'm willing to go right now

Jack Bauer : With all due respect Sir, please just let us do our jobs
