I know how hard it must be for you to believe everything everybody's been telling you about your father but I'm going to show you something that will change your mind.   Jane Saunders : Why are you putting all this on me?

  Jack Bauer : Because your Stephen Saunders' daughter and unfortunately your our only leverage we have against him

  Jane Saunders : You can't just say these outrageous things and expect me to believe you

  Jack Bauer : I know, the truth is I knew your father, I worked with him. He was a good man, he was a brave man but something's happened to him, all I care about right now is stopping him from what his doing. I can't do that without you, I need your help

• Jack Bauer : I'm going to show you who your father really is: these photographs were taken over eight years ago. Your father told your mother he was going to Europe on a fact finding mission, but the truth of the matter is we were both part of a Special Forces unit that was dispatched to Kosovo to kill a man named Victor Drazen. This is where the mission ended: Drazen's hideout, when I left Kosovo I believed your father had died in the blast. The British government told your mother that's where he died too. But recently through phone records your father contacted you four years ago to tell you he was still alive, is that right?

  Stephen Saunders : Yes, a couple months after my mother died I got a call from him, he said he was living in Europe under an assumed name and that nobody knew he was alive and for his protection, I couldn't tell anyone I spoke to him

  Jack Bauer : Did he ever tell you why he contacted you after so many years?

  Jane Saunders : Yes, he missed me

  Jack Bauer : I understand that. Over the last three to four hours we've been pulling data from Interpol: here are some more recent images. This is your father with Syed Calabi, a known weapons dealer in the Middle East, here he is seen meeting with Ari Consol, a biologist from Jakarta who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for the manufacturing of illegal biological weapons

  Jane Saunders : This doesn't prove anything, he could've been meeting with these people for any number of reasons

  Jack Bauer : I'll play you an audio file: one of three we got from your father earlier today, this is your father talking to the President of the United States

  Stephen Saunders : "Working against those countries at the behest of the American military machine. In forty-five minutes, I want a list of their identities sent to me by the way of a website: Silvia.Imports.com, if you fail to comply, I will release two of the vials in major cities"

  Jack Bauer : Two more vials of the virus, his already release one. This is a live video feed from the Chandler Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles where your father ordered the release of one of the vials of the virus into the ventilation system of the hotel. The people you're looking at will be dead in the next two to three hours. Almost eight hundred are infected, this how they'll die

  Jane Saunders : [Horrified by the images]  I don't want to see anymore

  Jack Bauer : I don't want to see anymore either, you can help us stop this. Please

  Jane Saunders : I have a phone number: he told me to call day or night if I ever got into trouble

  Jack Bauer : Have you even used it before?

  Jane Saunders : No

  Jack Bauer : We need it

• Tony Almeida : [During a conference call]  Mr. President?

  President David Palmer : Mr. Almeida, I understand we may have a way to locate this man Stephen Saunders?

  Tony Almeida : Yes Sir, we do, however my technical staff just informed me to do so properly, it may take fifteen minutes, possibly longer

  President David Palmer : So there's no way to get to him in the next few minutes?

  Jack Bauer : No Sir, there's not

  President David Palmer : Ok gentlemen: time is upon us, having considered all the possible scenarios I see no choice but to "draw our line in the sand." I will not given in to Saunders' latest demand

  Jack Bauer : Mr. President, I hope you understand that leaves us only one option and that's to use Stephen Saunders' daughter as a hostage, and hope that'll stop him

  President David Palmer : I understand, alright gentlemen get to it

  Wayne Palmer : [after ending the conference call]  are you sure we're doing the right thing?

  President David Palmer : The only thing I'm sure of is we cannot let this country be taken over by this mad man

• Jane Saunders : What's happening?

  Jack Bauer : We've run out of time: we need you to call your father

  Jane Saunders : And tell him what?

  Jack Bauer : Anything, we just need you to keep him on the line

  Jane Saunders : For how long?

  Jack Bauer : At least a minute. Do you think you can do that?

  Jane Saunders : I need to think about it

  Jack Bauer : We don't have any more time. Your father just threatened to release more of the virus in the next few minutes

• Tony Almeida : How do you want to do this?

  Jack Bauer : How long do we have to keep him on the line so we can run a trace?

  Tony Almeida : About a minute

  Jack Bauer : Ok: we'll need to cover our bases, we'll use Jane to try to keep him on the line: if we have to jump in, we will

  Tony Almeida : Alright, I'll initiate the trace, you tell Jane what we need her to do
