Quotes
-
Detective Michael Norris : [Shaking hands] I'm sorry for your loss
Julia Milliken : Thank you
Detective Michael Norris : I know this is a difficult time for you but I'd like to ask you a few questions: unless there's a problem?
Julia Milliken : No, it's just my lawyer wanted me to wait for him before I talked to anyone
Detective Michael Norris : Really? Then did he say why?
Julia Milliken : [Jokingly] you know lawyers
Detective Michael Norris : Unfortunately I do. But these questions don't require counsel, their pretty straight forward. According to the officers, you told them you were asleep in bed when the body was discovered?
Julia Milliken : Yes. Alan and I have had separate bedrooms since the stroke
Detective Michael Norris : And you didn't hear anything until the housekeeper woke you up?
Julia Milliken : That's right
Detective Michael Norris : Because she said she heard a car started up and leaving the driveway
Julia Milliken : Our driveway?
Detective Michael Norris : That's what woke her up. She got in time to the window to see a light colored car driving away. She thought it was a Mercedes
Julia Milliken : I didn't hear anything so I wouldn't know
Detective Michael Norris : Do you have any friends that drive a light colored Mercedes?
Julia Milliken : Half the people we know own a Mercedes and we know a lot of people
Detective Michael Norris : Are you aware the surveillance cameras in your security system are shut down? According to the time code, it was shut down about an hour before your husband's death
Julia Milliken : Beatrice is the one who arms the system before she goes to sleep so you should ask her
Detective Michael Norris : My partner did. She doesn't know anything about it
Julia Milliken : Neither do I
Detective Michael Norris : Are you sure about that?
Julia Milliken : Yes
Detective Michael Norris : You don't sound very sure
Julia Milliken : Detective Norris, exactly what are you implying here? My husband was a very sick man, he died because he was sick
Detective Michael Norris : That's "probably" true. It's beginning to look like he might've had some help
-
Sherry Palmer : [Over the phone] Hello?
Detective Michael Norris : Is this Sherry Palmer?
Sherry Palmer : Yes, who is this?
Detective Michael Norris : I'm Detective Michael Norris of the LAPD. I'm sorry to bother you this time of night
Sherry Palmer : Detective Norris, how did you get this number?
Detective Michael Norris : It was given to me by a woman named Julia Milliken: do you know her?
Sherry Palmer : Yes I do
Detective Michael Norris : Were you with her tonight?
Sherry Palmer : Tonight? No, I wasn't
Detective Michael Norris : She says you were
Sherry Palmer : Well, she's lying. I've been right here all night
Detective Michael Norris : And where is "here"?
Sherry Palmer : "Here" is in the district offices with my ex-husband President Palmer. He asked for my help on a political matter and I'm sorry but do you mind telling me what this is about?
Detective Michael Norris : Mrs. Milliken's husband died about an hour and a half ago
Sherry Palmer : Oh, I'm so sorry
Detective Michael Norris : She claims that you and she caused his death by withholding his medication
Sherry Palmer : Well, that's preposterous. I haven't seen Mr. Milliken or his wife in over three years
Detective Michael Norris : And you say you were with the President, since what time?
Sherry Palmer : Since about ten o'clock, about five hours ago
Detective Michael Norris : And if we were to contact President Palmer, would he be able to confirm that?
Sherry Palmer : I'm sure he will
Detective Michael Norris : [Before hanging up] thank you Mrs. Palmer, we'll be in touch
