Warner Home Video just announced a new program where you can upgrade several of your DVD titles to Blu-ray for as low as $7.95, and right now the price doesn't go any higher than $9.95. This is a similar program to the Red2Blu offer they made allowing customers to upgrade their HD DVD titles to Blu-ray, a program I actually took advantage of and loved it as a result.
The process to upgrade is simple. Consumers select the titles they want to upgrade on DVD2Blu.com, mail in their standard DVDs with pre-paid postage and a short time later receive copies of the same film on Blu-ray Disc. Consumers who place orders over $25 will receive free shipping. For a complete list of titles visit DVD2Blu.com, but I have included the most recent list of titles and prices directly below. 10,000 B.C. ($9.95) Rush Hour 3 ($9.95) Full Metal Jacket ($9.95) Pan's …

The Girlfriend Experience (2009) covers several days in the life of a high-end escort in Manhattan. Media coverage surrounding this independent effort from director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich) highlighted his choice of adult film star, Sasha Grey, to portray the main character, Chelsea. I had never heard of the aspiring actress (she's done over 100 "movies" to date) before the film's publicity efforts, but a quick Google search returned probably more info and pictures than most straight laced folks would desire. Those familiar with Sasha's oeuvre hoping to get artsy-fartsy Hollywood porn will be sadly disappointed, as there is barely any nudity and no explicit sex on display.
What makes Chelsea's services unique is that for $2000 per hour she provides what is alluded to in the title, time with a significant other. She gets wined and dined, for the most part, by high earning businessmen while making conversation about their daily …

'The Haunted Airman,' televised in the U.K. in 2006, makes its Stateside debut Tuesday.

Over the last year or so, he has become one of the most closely scrutinized celebrities in the entire world. Every time Robert Pattinson sneezes, it seems like 12 supermarket tabloids run a cover story. So, how is it that the "Twilight" saga superstar could be surprising his fans with a brand-new film that comes out next week?
"The Haunted Airman" premieres on DVD on Tuesday, a release date that has taken even RPattz's most loyal fans (who've scrambled to see such little-known flicks as "How to Be" and "Little Ashes") by surprise. It has had little to no publicity on any of Rob's fan sites, and there is little written about the film online.
"This Halloween, 'Twilight' heartthrob Robert Pattinson takes a break from …

If I had to guess, I'd say there's a very good chance that Shawn Levy's upcoming comedy Date Night will be a big hit. Not only does it bring together the stars of two of the biggest sitcoms on TV right now (The Office and 30 Rock), but it also has a supporting cast that includes James Franco, Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, Kristen Wiig, Mark Ruffalo, Ray Liotta and yes, even G4's Olivia Munn. Not to mention the fact that Shawn Levy has directed two of the highest grossing comedies of the past 3 years with Night At The Museum and its sequel. But will it actually be good? The script for Date Night, which was originally written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean's Thirteen, Knockaround Guys, Rounders), got an honourable mention from the 2008 Hollywood BBC Elite List as one of the best screenplays of the year. However, since …

Matt Damon spent his Friday night hard at work on The Adjustment Bureau in NYC. He was joined by Emily Blunt for the late shoot, and his Ocean's Thirteen costar Ellen Barkin even dropped by to say hello. Matt's currently all about his film project, but he took a little time last week to speak about his Onexone charity at the Clinton Global Initiative. He'll also be showing up promoting his organization on the season finale of Entourage, and a recently leaked viral video from the set shows an enraged acting Matt telling off Adrian Grenier's Vince - check out the video below. It was meat feast for Sony this weekend when its latest CG animation Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs stormed to the top of the Us weekend box office, opening on a chunky $30.1m. Over half of its receipts came from 3D screenings.Inspired by a (presumably very) popular children's picturebook, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs eclipsed the feats of Sony's previous best 'toon opening, Open Season, to rack up the highest ever September animation opening. After the flop that was Surf's Up, it's timely encouragement that the studio can compete against the monsters, nut-chasing squirrels or talking dogs of its rival animators, albeit on a smaller scale. It was a so-so weekend for Steven Soderbergh's latest, The Informant!. Grosses of $10.5m may have been dwarfed by Ocean's Thirteen, but looks like good business for the offbeat whistleblower comedy, especially after Che's opening of $61,000.Nothing much was happening …

It's becoming harder and harder to understand Steven Soderbergh's motivations. After all, when he teamed with the likes of Clooney, Pitt, and Damon for the "Ocean's Eleven" movies, you could understand it, because everyone's got to get paid at some point. And this is the guy who made "Sex, Lies & Videotape," "Traffic," and "The Limey." But his more recent work has been difficult to fathom. "Ocean's Thirteen" was little more than a flashy payday, while the epic "Che" and the mini-budgeted "The Girlfriend Experience" were both high-minded experiments that eventually felt soulless. But one has to wonder just what it was about The Informant! that drew both the director and his star, Matt Damon, to the material. Now, it's a true story, and a great one, the tale of Mark Whitacre, a high-ranking official at Archer Daniels Midland who turned informant in the early 90s when he discovered that …

I like Matt Damon a lot, both onscreen and off. I like the way he spends his movie-star clout. I like the way he pursues material that seems like it would be hard to pull off, and I like the way he pulls it off more often than not. I like that he wrote his way to stardom, something which is still impressive even 12 years later. And I like his taste in filmmakers. This is a guy who could work with anyone, and when you're in that situation, who you work with says a lot about who you are. Matt …

George Clooney would rather have a rectal examination on live TV than join a social networking site. The Hollywood actor isn't a fan of sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter and says an intrusive medical would be a more preferable option than creating his own page.
He is quoted by website E! Online as saying: "I'd rather have a rectal examination on live TV by a fellow with cold hands than have a Facebook page!"
Jason Reitman - who directed George in new movie "Up in the Air" - also agrees with the "Ocean's Thirteen" star as he believes social networking sites are far too intrusive.
He said: "As an actor, you give up your life to a certain extent, but you shouldn't have to give it up that much. I'm not talking about a red carpet. On a red carpet, you're there to get your photo taken. But …

Steven Soderbergh is pulling no punches with the latest choice of hot non-actress set to star in his next film Knockout. Having spotted mixed martial arts madame Gina Carano on the fighting circuit, the director has worked out a script to integrate her fighting prowessinto the plot of a spy thriller.Known for his quirky movie choices, Soderbergh has moved in the last two years between a big budget heist (Ocean's Thirteen), revolutionary biopic (Che Parts I and II), filth-filled drama (The Girlfriend Experience) and fattening up Matt Damon (for The Informant!). Adding a girl-fight to a roster which also boasts a musical about the life of Cleopatra (Cleo) could never have seemed so predictable.Knockout is written by Lem Dobbs - who also penned The Limey and Kafka for Soderbergh - and will see the inexperienced actress Carano (also known in America as Gladiator Crush) playing a girl from …

He is, basically, the antithesis of a Comic-Con filmmaker, more interested in infusing celluloid with his personal vision than with dazzling moviegoers through visual effects. Not that director Steven Soderbergh is adverse to using advanced technology, or sprinkling computerized wizardry upon the narrative like fairy dust, or including breathless action sequences in his films. Quite to the contrary. Ocean's Thirteen, for example, fairly bursts with playful touches of meta-reality, from handwritten monetary sums dancing around a wide shot of unexpected casino winners to 60s-style split-screen montages, and contains a breathless series of escapades in which no one pulls a gun -- it's all talk.
Thus, it was distressing to hear that Soderbergh spoke with an "air of tired resignation" in an telephone conversation with The Guardian UK a while back. He said he could "see the end" of his career, with just "three or four years worth of stuff" that …

E! workhorse and acclaimed journalist Jules Asner was the guest on the current episode of the Adam Carolla podcast. Amongst discussion of her work, the mysteries of the modeling industry, the unpleasantness of Brooke Burke and lots of other non-/Film business, conversation does eventually come to Steven Soderbergh, Jules' husband. If you drop in at 19 minutes and 30 seconds or so, you can hear the talk on Soderbergh begin with Carolla's attack on Ocean's 13 and Asner's brief defense. Asner then describes The Informant! as one of her favourite pictures Soderbergh has made alongside Ocean's 11 and 12 and The Limey. After Carolla agrees that The Limey was a corker, conversation turns to the potential sequel. Here's the key quote from Jules Asner herself: He wants to do a sequel to The Limey, and Terence Stamp wants to do it. Terence and Michael Keaton. Yep, Michael Keaton. I think that's new news, …

Aaron Sorkin is ready to play ball. With Steven Soderbergh dropping out of its Brad Pitt vehicle Moneyball, due to the usual "creative differences," Columbia Pictures is aiming to get the baseball film back on base by hiring West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin to give it a nice polish so it can move into production. But exactly who will be taking the reins on the project is another matter. The studio's president, Amy Pascal, put the brakes on Moneyball last month because she wasn't keen on the Ocean's Thirteen helmer's less-than-commercial vision for Steven Zaillian's latest draft, which the studio loved but which he wanted to turn into a docudrama featuring interviews with real-life …

Will Smith and director Francis Lawrence are back together again.
The two worked on "I Am Legend," and now, both will be working on "City that Sailed."
The premise is intriguing -- a father and daughter living on opposite sides of the ocean love each other so strongly that it causes Manhattan to split off and float across the Atlantic.
So Manhattan is the city that sailed...aw....
This project is currently setup at 20th Century Fox and Smith is producing, and may be the star.
The script will be rewritten by "Ocean's Thirteen" writers Brian Koppleman and David Levien. "Truman Show's" Andrew Niccol originally wrote the script.
Right now, Lawrence is also courting Reese Witherspoon to star in "Water for Elephants," an adaptation of the Sara Gruen novel that the director is set to helm. The actress hasn't committed yet. …

In addition to developing their prequel to I Am Legend, director Francis Lawrence and star Will Smith are also working on a second possible collaboration, a family drama with a fantastic element called City That Sailed.
According to Variety, the project would see Smith play a father that lives in England while his young daughter resides in Manhattan. The father-daughter connection and desire to see one another is so great that it causes the island to actually detach from its foundation and sail across the Atlantic so the two could be reunited. I guess the love of the Smiths is stronger than the families who make the commute from New Jersey to Manhattan and who would now be separated from their loved ones.
The script for City That Sailed had already been finished but now 20th Century Fox has hired the Ocean's Thirteen and Rounders duo Brian Koppelman and David Levien …
