"Marrying God" is an 18-minute short film (with credits) from almost 2 years ago and basically takes us into the world of a young girl who finds out things are not always the way they seem in her family. The director is Duke Johnson and he is sort of rising right now with "Anomalisa" soon coming out, one of the most eagerly awaited animated films of the year. This one is live action though and it was Johnson's first work as a director. The screenplay writer Sage Wells was equally inexperienced back then. So the duo came up with a pretty mediocre film in regard to everything: direction, script and acting as well. None of the cast members are really known or seem particularly talented. Not a great watch by any means, which is a pity as the story offers room for more. It feels like a soap opera to me and I don't recommend it.
