I believe that Nina Simone is one of the most talented artists of the 20th century. She expressed her music in a way that any one can relate to at one point or another. With no offense to Mary J. Bliege, MTV/Paramount Productions (which I'm sure are ALL reading this), please don't make this movie.
Please don't turn the life of a legend into a popular icon. If such a film were to be produced, it would have to be perfect. If not, the magic behind the Nina Simone culture will disappear along side the film's failure.
Don't mix Nina in with Johnny Cash, Iddy Sedgwick, and the many other artists that were brought to film for the sake of money. Nina doesn't need to be imitated or falsely represented for the dollars of Hollywood producers. Out of respect, I ask the makers of this film to think hard before creating it and ask again... Please, do not make this film. And if you do, please do it right...
"I didn't get interested in music, it was a gift from God." - Nina Simone, Live at Ronnie Scotts, 1987
