Will Joe Carnahan Drive ‘The A-Team’ To Success?

28 January 2009 11:18 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The A-Team movie has been in development for about a decade now. It looked like it was moving forward last year when John Singleton signed on to direct and started talking about casting.

However, things didn’t come together and Singleton left the project due to “creative differences.” It looks now that The A-Team is actually set to go into production this June - and behind the wheel is Joe Carnahan (Narc) directing and Tony and Ridley Scott producing.

Now that’s exciting!

Talent fascists 20th Century Fox want the film released on June 11, 2010 so they’d better be on the ball and ready to roll soon.

The current script by Skip Woods (G.I Joe) will be tweaked by Brian Bloom and Carnahan. Instead of being Vietnam vets, The A-Team will have conducted their tour of duty in the Middle East. Carnahan says:

Joe Carnahan Taking Over Fox's A-Team Remake

27 January 2009 10:54 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

We've heard a lot about this new A-Team remake over the past year or so, but in the last update we wrote, John Singleton was still directing. Not anymore. Fox has hired Smokin' Joe Carnahan to take over the reigns with Tony and Ridley Scott's production company Scott Free handling the production side of things. They will still be using Skip Woods' script and are still keeping the planned June 11th, 2010 release date, meaning this will be fast-tracked and lined up as Carnahan's next project, instead of the numerous others he was supposedly involved with, including White Jazz, Bunny Lake Is Missing, and Killing Pablo. The A-Team, which first aired in 1983, is made up of a group of Us Army Special Forces operatives, comprised of Hannibal, the leader, Face, the ladies man, Howling Mad Murdock, an unstable pilot, and B.A. Baracus, the muscles of the group. The 'A-Team' Movie is Moving Again with Joe Carnahan

27 January 2009 7:27 PM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

According to the Hollywood Reporter Fox's theatrical version of The A-Team has found new life after director John Singleton bailed on the project. However, it appears they have a new director in Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smoking Aces) and Ridley and Tony Scott's production house Scott Free is aboard to produce. You have to wonder if this will finally be the film Carnahan can get made following up on Smoking Aces. His work on Bunny Lake Is Missing was for not after Reese Witherspoon abandoned the project, White Jazz fell apart and we haven't heard much at all about Killing Pablo recently. So, is this the one to get him back in the chair? The film still has a June 11, 2010 release date set and now it is just a matter of filling up the cast for the Skip Woods penned script. A-team Reassembles Under New Management -- Director Joe Carnahan to lead the soldiers of fortune

27 January 2009 | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Once upon a time, not too long ago, "The A-Team" adaptation was going to be helmed by director John Singleton. He dropped out and the project was in limbo. But since it has cultural cache and is a name recognizable even to today's kids with their damn music, the project is resurrected, this time with Joe Carnahan ("Smokin' Aces") at the helm. With Ridley and Tony Scott on board to producer, this definitely looks like it will be a far different (and probably better) flick than Singleton was going to make.Of course, it's hard not to feel a little bad for Carnahan. This feels like a "hired-gun" gig that he needs to boost his profile because every time he wants to make a movie like "White Jazz", "Killing Pablo", or "Bunny Lake Is Missing", he gets fucked. But Fox is fast-tracking the project, hoping to get into theatres (and »
