Slight but enjoyable.
Rick Sebak has been responsible for lots of light-hearted and enjoyable documentaries. He's done films on hotdogs, amusement parks and even sandwiches. These are all slight but very enjoyable films and despite their having a wide pop feel, they ARE still an important part of our history.
In this particular film, Sebak takes a look at cemeteries in America. While the film is far from exhaustive and doesn't even talk about some of the biggest and most important burial grounds (such as Forest Lawn, Arlington or Spring Grove) and its choices seem pretty random, it's interesting throughout. In fact, I could easily see more films being made like this--more from America or some featuring those in other countries. It's clever and consists of quirky narration, lots of interviews and visits. It is NOT creepy nor does it show dead folks--so if you are squeamish, don't worry. It's all, believe it or not, in good fun.
