Well, not quite. However, they will be playing DC superheroes for a new short film that's part of the comedic anthology Peter and Bobby Farrelly directed called Movie 43. The film will be broken up into several short films (most -- or all -- of which are dirty and over-the-top silly) starring all sorts of familiar names (like Emma Stone, Gerard Butler and Hugh Jackman, among others). Speaking to Leslie Bibb on the set of her new horror movie, Collider learned that her segment in the Farrelly film will follow a bunch of dysfunctional superheroes (most of whom also happen to be members of the Justice League) and was inspired by the short Robin's Big Date, which starred Sam Rockwell as Batman and Justin Long as Robin (watch it below). Long will be reprising his...

Machine Gun Preacher
Opens: 2011
Cast: Gerard Butler, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon, Madeline Carroll, Kathy Baker
Director: Marc Forster
Summary: After finding God, drug-dealing biker Sam Childers renounces his outlaw ways and embarks on a spiritual path, becoming a crusader for hundreds of desperate and helpless children who were being forced to become soldiers in war-torn southern Sudan.
Analysis: Despite taking the freshly rejuvenated James Bond franchise and nearly destroying it with the very disappointing "Quantum of Solace", German-Swiss filmmaker Marc Forster still has a decent amount of good will left thanks to strong earlier efforts like "Monster's Ball," "Finding Neverland," "Stranger Than Fiction" and "The Kite Runner".
Now, in his first film since that Bond outing, Forster returns to serious drama with this true story tale of a biker who became a humanitarian crusader for children in the Sudan. The story itself is fascinating, the born again Sam Childers and...

In the days leading up to the release of Iron Man 2, director Jon Favreau revealed that, before Robert Downey Jr. landed the role that reignited his languishing career, acclaimed character actor Sam Rockwell was once in consideration to play the "Armored Avenger," Tony Stark, in Iron Man.
Even though he didn't end up going with Rockwell for the part of Stark, Favreau kept him in mind and ended up casting Rockwell as Justin Hammer, a darker, less capable reflection of Tony Stark in the sequel, a part Rockwell nailed. Apparently, his near brush with becoming a super-actor has left Rockwell wanting, as he recently admitted to Empire magazine (via WorstPreviews) that he is itching to play a character with superhuman powers on the big screen.
I'd love to play a superhero. I know it'd take some doing to convince some people but I think I'd be a great one.

Sam Rockwell was on the short list to play the lead role of Tony Stark in the original "Iron Man" film, but the role eventually went to Robert Downey Jr. Rockwell later returned in the sequel, but never got the chance to do anything "super." He now tells Empire magazine that he would one day like to play a superhero. "I'd love to play a superhero. I know it'd take some doing to convince some people but I think I'd be a great one," said Rockwell. "I've played Batman in 'Robin's Big Date', but I've never had superpowers and I'd love to get some. It's about time." He added that it would be challenging for him to play a fearless action star. "In real life, everything makes me nervous," said the actor. "I'm scared of everything. Even going to the bank." Question: Which superhero would Rockwell be perfect to play?...

There is a short film that's been floating around the internet for a few years now that first appeared at the Fantasia Film Festival back in 2005 called Robin's Big Date. It's a comedy about Batman and Robin, where Robin is out on a date and Batman shows up to act as a wingman and ends up embarrassing him. It looks and sounds like a fan film, except for one minor detail: the short film stars Sam Rockwell as Batman and Justin Long as Robin! Now there comes news that the dynamic duo will once again be reprising their roles for one of the segments in the upcoming Peter Farrelly sketch comedy anthology film [1]. Production Weekly [2] reports that James Duffy, creator of the original short, will direct a segment called "Robin's Big Speed Date", with both Rockwell and Long signed on to star. What's more, the new installment will also feature John Hodgman as The Penguin,...

We've told you about a huge omnibus comedy film spearheaded by Peter Farrelly, which will be a series of short comedic vignettes (think Kentucky Fried Movie) starring and directed by a lot of huge names, like Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, Mike Judge, Brett Ratner, Bob Odenkirk, Gerard Butler, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, and a lot more.
One of those vignettes will be a remake, of sorts, of a James Duffy short "Robin's Big Date," about the speed-dating adventures of Batman's sidekick. In the original, and the remake, Sam Rockwell plays Batman and Justin Long plays Robin. Leslie Bibb has been added to play Wonder Woman in the new version. Here, however, is a look at the older version. Sam Rockwell should be in everything.
There's possibly too much awesome female power in this project to contain, but...

With his role in Marvel's Iron Man 2 Sam Rockwell has got one-half of appearing in the comic book world's two big superhero universes but with today's out-of-the-blue casting news, he's set to add the DC Comics side ot his repertoire. But here's where it gets really, really kooky: Rockwell is going to be playing the Dark Knight himself, Batman.
Before you imagine what kind of Terminator Salvation-esque expletive rant Christian Bale might be having right now, know that the Rockwell-as-Batman role will be in a comedy movie comprised of different segments. The movie is going to be an ensemble piece featuring different directors and actors in skit comedy like the 1970s' Kentucky Fried Movie or the '80s Amazon Women on the Moon films. There's already a whack of talent lined up to star in the as-yet untitled flick including Elizabeth Banks (who'll also direct one of the...

Back in 2005, James Duffy directed a short film called Robin's Big Date that starred Sam Rockwell as Batman and Justin Long as Robin. In it, Robin attempts to go on a date without Batman ruining the entire evening by being obnoxious and intrusive. It's a pretty funny short, and we've written about it before, but the cool news is that Rockwell and Long will be reprising these roles for another short film from Duffy called Robin's Big Speed Date that will be part of that huge, ensemble sketch comedy film the Farrelly Brothers are piecing together.
Not only will Duffy return to direct, but Production Weekly's Twitter reports that Leslie Bibb will play Wonder Woman, Josh Hamilton will play Superman and John Hodgeman will play the Penguin. Not for nothing, but this film keeps getting better and better. Previously we told you that Hugh Jackman will be starring alongside Kate Winslet...

Today's This month's most bizarre casting news has broken: Sam Rockwell is going to play Batman, or at least The Bat-Man. Joining him will be Josh Hamilton as Superman, Leslie Bibb as Wonderwoman, John Hodgeman as The Penguin and Justin Long as Robin. All together now: Wha??? Didn't see this coming? Well, I did... kinda... If you too have seen James Duffy's 2007 short film Robin's Big Date, you will have some idea what's going on here. We're clearly not dealing with a straight-up Warner Bros. summer tentpole. This casting is from Robin's Big Speed Date, what sounds to me to be a sequel to the original short. It's going to be one of the many comedy episodes in the as-yet-untitled, upcoming anthology film that has already announced a strong line up of stars and segment directors, from Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman to Peter Farrelly and Bob Oedenkirk.
