Opioids have killed thousands of people in America — newlyweds, honor students, grandparents and many more — and experts say the rate of fatal overdoses has accelerated in recent years. Alongside a special report on the epidemic in this week’s issue, on newsstands now, People is publishing several first-person essays online from those who have lost loved ones to addiction, to put faces and names to the statistics and bring their stories to light.

Nothing was off-limits as New Kids on the Block celebrated the House of Blues’ 25th anniversary with a sold-out, confetti-filled show in Anaheim, California, on Saturday.
Exclusive: Joey McIntyre on Burying the Hatchet With Donnie Wahlberg & Wishing He Was Joey Fatone
Danny Wood kicked off the show by introducing a surprise opening set from O-Town, who ran through their biggest hits, but saved the best for last. “We know there’s only one reason we’re here,” joked Jacob Underwood, before performing the 2001 chart-topper, “All Or Nothing.”
But it was NKotB’s entrance to their catchy latest jam, “One More Night,” from their new Ep Thankful that triggered ear-piercing screams from the jam-packed audience.

For years, Joey McIntyre has pursued his singing, acting and comedy career while his “awesome” wife Barrett took on being a stay-at-home mom, but the New Kids on the Block singer credits working together on their new show, Return of the Mac, for strengthening their bond after 13 years of marriage.
The couple and their three children are the focus of McIntyre’s new Pop TV sitcom Return of the Mac, loosely based on the 44-year-old musician’s quest to find success as an actor in Hollywood while juggling family life and daddy duties.

It’s been over four years since New Kids on the Block have released a new song. But their new single “One More Night” isn’t half bad. In fact it’s pretty darned catchy if you ask me. While it’ll never be a “Hanging Tough” or “The Right Stuff” they know as well as today’s youth knows that songs like that just don’t have any juice anymore, at least not to today’s crowd. NKotB draws plenty of thousands of old schoolers to their concerts every year but to get the attention of these tweens they need new material. I have to admit

Phil Collins is best known as the cheeky, amiable face of ’80s romantic pop. Yet in his new autobiography, Not Dead Yet: The Memoir, the “One More Night” singer is totally brutal â. on himself.
“Night after night I find myself lying on the bed, staring out of a skylight at grey Swiss skies, rueing my life,” Collins writes about the impact that retirement, crippling back pain and a third marriage breakdown had on his mental state.
“I’m all alone, save for my good friends Johnnie Walker and Grey Goose. ‘Youâ.ve got everything,’ I think, ‘but you’ve really got f—-all.

On Wednesday night, after taping his next-to-last Daily Show, Jon Stewart walked down a backstage hallway. "One more night!" he said, sounding gleeful and fatigued and slightly concerned about controlling his emotions. "Tomorrow night's gonna be nuts!"No doubt he’s right. But no matter what wackiness may occur during tonight's special hour-long finale, one of the most remarkable things is that Stewart seems to be ending his 16-and-a-half-year run with his feet still firmly on the ground. Then again, comedy and sanity have been on his mind for a long time. Back in 1993, Stewart was the host of a struggling talk show on MTV, and I was writing about him, and as we walked past West Fourth Street the conversation somehow turned to whether it was possible to be seriously funny and mentally well-balanced. The great comics I'd met to that point were pretty twisted. Stewart, though, was...

Before you finalize that playlist of your new favorite summer jams, make sure to save a spot for Go Wolf. “One More Night” is the latest clip from the dance pop group that hails from Belfast. The video, directed by Gregg Houston, is one that makes you stare wide-eyed, thinking you're seeing something. Then, when the illusion reveals itself, you have to go back and remember what you just watched. It's a clever, psychedelic experience the builds on the lush music underneath the visuals. Go Wolf is certainly in good company with Houston, who got his feet wet working with Two Door Cinema Club and Cast of Cheers, among others. The band also made big waves at least year’s Belfast Music Week. The hometown group came out of the festival with many singing their praises and are now making their official foray into the stateside scene. A big step...

The Sing-Off doesn’t care if you understand when their show is on, for how long it’s on or if you think it’s crazy that they put all of their best teams up against one another in one episode. When you’ve stared cancellation in the eye and made it back to harmonize another day, you do whatever the F-clef you want! I liked that The Sing-Off went even more rogue than usual Thursday night; the hour-long episode was the perfect palate cleanser after two kind of exhausting two-hour spots this week. The Sing-Off returned for an hour show on Thursday, which saw four of the eight remaining a cappella teams compete for spots in the final six. Ten, AcoUstiKats, Street Corner Renaissance and The Filharmonic were all on deck.
Following a group performance of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” the groups kicked off the “Number One Hits”-themed night.

First up was Ten, the group that formed just fairly recently. Coached by Shawn Stockman, they took on Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” and did an incredible job. The judges noted that while they started off towards the bottom, the way that they’re coming together is making them a contender.

After seven weeks of sitting at No. 2 on the Hot 100 behind Maroon 5's "One More Night," Psy's breakout hit "Gangnam Style" finally relinquished its runners-up slot last week, falling to No. 5. He appeared in concert with Madonna and performed with Mc Hammer at the 2012 American Music Awards, so there was a chance the song could bounce back. But now it's abundantly clear: Psy's "Gangnam Style," in all its unlikely glory, will forever go down in the annals as an eternal No. 2 song. There have been a good number of singles in history that -- despite their...

Robin Thicke shows no signs of stopping. The 36-year-old singer released his hit single "Blurred Lines" this spring, and the Pharrell-produced track just set a record for the year.
By topping the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart this week, "Blurred Lines" now holds the title of the single with the most weeks spent at the No. 1 spot on the chart for 2013, according to Billboard. With seven weeks at No 1., "Blurred Lines" beats out Macklemore's "Thrift Shop," which dominated for six weeks beginning in February.
Thicke is up against overall record-holders Maroon 5 whose "One More Night" led the Hot 100 for nine weeks in 2012. Other contenders include Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" which held for eight weeks last year.
The lead single off of Thicke's upcoming album, "Blurred Lines" has already been certified multi-platinum. The track has also been a controversial one, prompting criticism from some who felt the lyrics were questionable and misogynistic.

Giving their fans a wonderful wakeup call, Maroon 5 showed up at the “Today” show in New York City this morning (June 14).
Adam Levine and his handsome bandmates were in the house to play a series of hits as part of “Today’s” Summer Concert Series, and they even chatted a bit in between numbers.
Among the songs on the docket were “Payphone,” “One More Night,” and “Love Somebody,” and the band didn’t seem deterred by the colder-than-usual climate.
And when Matt Lauer asked Levine if he gives his cohorts “Voice”-style critiques, Adam declared, "No, they definitely don't like that! And I don't do that."...

No rest for the weary: Wale dropped the Rihanna remix to "Bad" one day after performing at Hot 97's Summer Jam.
The track features Wale and Ms. Six-Milly dropping a bit of sing-rap over squeaky bed springs (it's like the early '00s, someone bring back TrillVille), clattering snares and an otherwise charming beat. Rih fans will be reminded of "Loveeeeeee Song," her track with Future. Rihanna and Wale trade lines about why type of gents like what types of ladies (she claims that "hood girls just want a real n---a") and Rihanna slurs her way through a sultry-yet-sad hook. "Yeah I'm good in bed, but I'll be baaaaaad to ya," she says, doing her best version of Star's "One More Night."
If that description sounds familiar, it's because this track sees both performers staying firmly in their lanes. Luckily for listeners, an on-point Wale and a sparkling Rihanna make for a pretty couple.

Police in Indonesia charged five teenage girls with blasphemy after a cell phone video of the high school students dancing to a Maroon 5 song surfaced online.
According to The Jakarta Globe, the teens were charged with blasphemy under Article 156 Section A of Indonesia's penal code for "tainting religion" by combining prayer with Maroon 5's "One More Night." The students from Tolitoli, a district in Central Sulawesi, were also expelled from school after the video gained popularity.
The video, in which the teens alternate between traditional prayer movements and dancing as the pop song plays in the background, was first uploaded in March but did not gain police attention until the school reported it to authorities.
"The students were performing Sholat [prayer] movement with dancing while alternately reciting [the] Quran and turning on 'One More Night' music," the school's principal -- identified as Muallimin -- explained in a statement obtained by Detik News.

Good news for Maroon 5 -- the band just earned its third No. 1 single off of the recent album, "Overexposed."
"Daylight" follows "Payphone" and "One More Night" to become Maroon 5's third chart-topping single, Billboard reports. This is the first time a group has produced three No. 1 singles off of one album since 1994 when Ace of Base's "The Sign" provided fans with "All That She Wants," "Don't Turn Around," and "The Sign." (It's worth noting that solo artists have done better; Katy Perry notched five No. 1's off "Teenage Dream," a feat only matched by Michael Jackson's "Bad.")
The track is Maroon 5's sixth No. 1 single in the 20 years of the Billboard chart, tying Beyonce and Mariah Carey. Katy Perry and Rihanna hold the record for the most No. 1 songs with nine each. P!nk has eight, while Lady Gaga and Britney Spears each have seven.

When we chatted with La cyber-rocker Davey Suicide last year, he was already riding waves of positive buzz ahead of his self-named band's Ep Put Your Trust in Suicide, which was released in the fall (check out our review here) and helped catapult them from the industrial rock underground to reach a much wider audience. The band has recently caught the attention of major music media – including Alternative Press, who included them in their new “100 Bands You Need to Know” issue, marked by a special event at South By Southwest last weekend, with Davey in attendance. Not only is he dedicated to his music career (he chose to re-invent himself after a brief solo project and found his niche with the new material), Davey also brings mad fashion skills, which incarnate his obsession with monsters from both fiction and reality through his own custom clothing line, Killers Never Die. Somewhere...

We’re finally back in the 90210! No more talking about Kim acting crazy — let’s see if the ladies find something to actually scream about. Will Adrienne come back with a fury? Will Yolanda continue to be a bawse and push Taylor over the edge? Time to find out!
Before we get back to sunny Beverly Hills, we have to labor through One More Paris segment. Everyone’s on a party boat, basking in the sun in winter coats. And even though Kim Richards is still totally acting crazy, Lisa Vanderpump determines that she actually seems better. Um, if you say so?

Adam Levine who? It's being reported that Anne Vyalitsyna has found a new love interest in the form of DJ Calvin Harris.
Sources for New York Post's Page Six spotted Harris and the Russian supermodel getting cozy at the Las Vegas Sports Illustrated party on Valentine's Day. "The two were constantly laughing, kissing and holding each other throughout the night," the partier says.
Sounds like Harris made a pretty great Valentine, as another insider tells Us Weekly that the couple of "a month or two" were "all over each other" at the event. "He came to support her and was playing the role of doting boyfriend," the source says. "They were adorable!"
This is the first man Vyalitsyna has been seen with since she broke up with Levine in April 2012. He soon moved on to her friend Behati Prinsloo, but Vyalitsyna doesn't seem very heartbroken. Page Six's source says that...

The Nielsen Company and Billboard released its year-end report for the Canadian music industry this afternoon, one which saw Adele, Celine Dion, Gotye and Carly Rae Jepsen fare quite well according to their data. It also showed that sales overall are down slightly with digital sales increasing and physical sales decreasing. And if you're a jazz fan, well... 2012 wasn't a good year at all.
Overall the industry as a whole saw album sales in total decrease by two per cent. Digital track sales soared 21 per cent in 2012 over the previous year while physical sales dropped 12 per cent. Holiday season albums also didn't fare as well, dropping 12.2 per cent from 2011.
Nielsen reported only three genres saw album sales rise, with a 23 per cent increase in country album sales with moderate increases for alternative and metal categories. Jazz sales suffered the worst, plummeting by a staggering 43 per cent. Finally 2012 was also the...

February 9 is a new date to remember for Justin Bieber fans. On that date the young star will be both hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live. The last time Bieber appeared on SNL, Tina Fey got a special serenade for a sketch which placed the two on screen together. What’s in store this time around?
It’s hard to believe that the last appearance happened back in 2010, a fact we were reminded of by the folks over at Billboard. Bieber shared a Tweet with his followers on Monday, which hinted about the upcoming appearance and now it has been confirmed.
The album we’re likely to hear tracks from on SNL is called “Believe Acoustic” and it becomes available for purchase starting on January 29. You may have already caught performances of “Boyfriend,” and two other new singles from the artist on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” just last week.

Taylor Swift, reuniting with LL Cool J to co-host the Grammy Nominations Concert Wednesday night (Sept. 5), might not have conquered all musical genres yet.
Welcoming the hip-hop actor to "her town," Nashville, T-Swizzle beatboxed while he sang "Mean." Fortunately, their performance was short: there were plenty of acts and even a few nominations to follow. The co-host herself scored a nod (Record of the Year for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Again") -- but Fun. led the night with nominations in all the major categories.
Here's what went down in Music City:
First act: The Band Perry and Dierks Bentley perform Johnny Cash's "Jackson."
Pop Vocal Album nominees (presented in song by Hunter Hayes):
Kelly Clarkson, "Stronger"
Florence + The Machine, "Ceremonials"
Fun., "Some Nights"
Maroon 5, "Overexposed"
Pink, "The Truth About Love"

Rihanna has claimed her 12th number one single in the Us. The star's latest cut 'Diamonds' moves up to pole position on this week's Billboard Hot 100 chart, forcing Maroon 5's 'One More Night' down to two. Rihanna's first number one was claimed in 2006 with 'Sos' and was followed by chart-topping hits 'Umbrella', 'Take a Bow', 'Disturbia', 'Live Your Life' (with Ti) and 'Rude Boy'. Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Jeremy Renner fan. My obsession with the Avengers star may not rival that I have with Michael Fassbender (I like to watch this clip when I’m feeling blue — completely family friendly, I assure you), but it’s up there. I mean, have you seen Renner’s arms? Just… sa-woon. Oh, and he’s a pretty good actor too (you know, if those Oscar nods are anything to go by). But wow, that was a painful episode of Saturday Night Live, wasn’t it?
I’m not even sure who to blame for it.

Channing Tatum and Justin Bieber are among the leading nominees for the 2013 People's Choice Awards, but Twihards are going to be disappointed.
The 2013 edition of the awards is set for Jan. 9, and per usual they'll run the gamut of movies, TV and music. Bieber picked up five nominations in the music category, including nods for favorite male artist and favorite pop artist. He'll also compete against his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, in the "favorite music fan following" category.
Tatum has four nominations, including ones for favorite comedic and dramatic actor (range!). Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence are the top female nominees with three each. Adam Levine has only one individual nomination -- for favorite celebrity judge -- but between "The Voice" and Maroon 5, he's part of six nominees.
Noticeably absent from the movie categories is "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2." It opens Friday (Nov. 16), which apparently was too late for this year's awards.
