Who voted this 10?

Its not the worst movie i've ever seen, but it comes real close to it...the stunts are OK, but you just keep wondering why the hell is nobody shooting their gun at the freakin'"class 4" when he's right in front of them, being surrounded by 5 people!! Second of all, the acting, it's just plain afwul. No emotions, and when there are, they are misplaced.

I guess if you like English movies with no depth, bad effects, bad acting but a lot of fighting and shooting then you could watch this, otherwise just leave it...

p.s. i guess the ones voting this movie 10 have probably been used as props!

Budget was clearly a problem
fallonmassey5 October 2007
Budget was clearly a problem with this film. For the level of production, direction, and acting, obviously the budget was too great. Otherwise this film couldn't have been made, which would be the desired result.

Sorry, but if you simply view the trailer, it's painfully obvious that your local high school play has better actors.

I will say that the plot, though well worn, is a good one and ripe for exploitation. Of course, that would require a level of talent missing from this production.

I am amazed that the one positive review was, well, a bit more generous than is believable. However, I do agree that they attempted to undertake a grand vision, but they actually bit off more than they could chew.

It's commendable to praise such efforts for those brave amateurs striving to become professionals. Unfortunately, these are amateurs POSING as professionals, and that praise is not warranted.

I was confused from the first 2 Min's of the film!!.. I found it boring, confusing, poorly acted! I have seen soaps with better scripts. In fact.. script was probably on the back of a postage stamp! i turned it off after watching the first hour... shockingly POOR! 2/10 is been generous!! Don't waste your time with the movie!!! Unless you enjoy bad acting... and how the h*** did this get on DVD, in fact someone on benefits could of fronted this movie!

LOL this sums the whole movie...

quote from the over view "Plot Synopsis: This plot synopsis is empty."

"Camo, Chaos, and Confusion"
GirlAchromatism17 September 2007
At first I saw that this film was rated a 10, which I never see on here. Then I noticed that it only had 19 votes and there were no comments yet. This made me leery but I decided to check it out for myself.

First I must say that I am a big Sci-Fi fan, and I do enjoy some good Indie films, even if they are low budget. This film started off looking like it was going to be interesting. I definitely think they came up with a good movie idea. But about five minutes into it I totally lost interest.

After about 5 minutes of narration setting up the plot, it jumps into a lot of action. The problem is that most of the characters are about the same height and weight and all wearing similar, if not identical, outfits. This combined with the complete lack of character development made it nearly impossible to tell what was going on. I had no idea who were the good guys and who were the bad guys.

After the action died down a little I thought maybe the film would redeem itself, maybe let us get to know some characters a little bit. But this film was sheer disappointment. Out of about 100 minutes of film there was probably only 15 minutes of dialogue the rest was all kicking and punching.

Anyone who rated this film a 10 either:

a) Just wanted to see a bunch of kicking and punching.

b) Worked on the production of this film.

c) Thinks 10 is the lowest rating...

Wowwwwwww

Warning: Spoilers
The Only question that came to my mind after watching this film was - Wowwwwwwwwwwww how can someone make such an awful film and still get 9.5 rating in IMDb??????? I mean there are bad movies and then there are bad movies, this one beats them all to the pole. A half developed storyline, bad action, even worse acting and some very confused concepts eg- the ministry of offense, CORE(is it a paramilitary organization or govt) etc etc...... this in all sums up the whole movie.

But credit must go to the producer for his willingness to produce such a bad movie and provide so many bad actors with employment.

All in all don't ever never watch this movie.....i got the DVD from a friend of mine (who wanted to take revenge on me....for burning his steak)

Hollow acting
simon35918 September 2007
If this was not a British film and I was not British myself, I would have given this movie even less than 5. The storyline was good but the acting very hollow and contrived and reminiscent of a B movie. The actors just didn't seem natural enough. The script could have been better polished and the special effects reflected the obviously low budget of this film. However poor special effects don't necessarily make a bad movie.I cant believe that this has a IMDb rating of 10 as I write. I wish people could be more honest in their rating as it only benefits us all. The voters must surely have some connection with the producers of this movie. My recommendation - skip this film and watch something better instead.

One of the WORST movies ever made.
brotherzofmetal18 September 2007
What can i say. There is nothing watchable about this one. Just don't waste your time or money. I mean i can understand that u don't have any money for a decent movie but this ain't even a movie. No story, no acting, no visual effects, no sound effects, no acting, nothing at all. It starts with some alien background, then it just moves to action. I can't even say that you are going to see some good karate moves in it. I might be harsh about this movie. Because i just saw it and i can't believe i spent 90 minutes for this. Yeah the movie is 90 minutes but there is nothing in it. What i recommend to you is never watch a movie without reading at least a couple comments about it at IMDb.com .

Not that bad.
lartrak7 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Has a lot of issues, and the fact that it started as a short film project is obvious now that I've read that on here. But, still, there is some skill and talent in this production.

First, the good. Some of the action in the latter half of the movie is actually pretty good. Way over-edited, but it is still decent. The best part of the entire film is the soldier guys (including Radius) killing all the corporate types. Much of this sequence is handled well. While much of it is ludicrous and defies belief, the sequence is still well put together.

The bad is obvious. The plot is scattered and hard to follow, much of the acting is bad, characters appear and disappear for far too long, etc. In particular, I think this film could have benefited from a major cut down of footage. It could have been 20 minutes shorter, easily. Also, I found the Radius part of the storyline much more interesting, even though it is only half-finished in some ways (like a guy who says he knows Radius's father - but then this is never referenced again). The alien stuff almost seems like an afterthought, and the film would have been better without it.

Still, this is not a piece of crap. It's worth a watch.

horribly, horribly bad piece of crap
dmuel27 January 2008
The film begins with a voice-over, explaining some kind of alien threat to Earth and a deal made between some earthlings and aliens regarding experiments on humans, and a few very short scenes that look like they were lifted from another film, all of which lasts for 3 or 4 minutes. This is about as sci-fi as this piece of crap gets; the rest of the movie we see an endless series of low-budget, poorly acted fight sequences. The fights are created by camera juggling, as it's clear most of the actors have no martial arts ability, which means the fights really stink. There's a story about an android working with Brit soldiers to find secret documents, but this is one awful movie. If you can sit through this you're already brain-dead.

Has great potential
JohnPLechago12 July 2008
I just saw this film. I understand that it was a very low budget film and one of the director's first efforts. I have to say that regardless of the problems it has, I am impressed. It would have been an ambitious movie even if it had a studio budget. I am a microbudget filmmaker myself and have to suffer commentary from people who have no idea what I'm dealing with. So I want to congratulate the filmmakers for their hard work. It is obvious to me that they were passionate and driven in their intent. That is something that a "budget" can not buy. The rest is gained through experience. There were problems with the screenplay and dialog. Sometimes I think that it was too dry, stiff. The Humans needed to sound a little more Human. I think that the audience needs to get invested on one of the characters more. The lighting was a bit too hot, at least in the final DVD version. It looked blown out in many places. The lighting could have been finessed some more, and the color controlled better. The angles, composition, lensing and camera movement were GREAT. As well as was the editing. The action was pretty damn good for a low budget film. I've done martial arts in my films too, and trust me, it's really freakin hard. I only have one request. On your next film, please no more graphics identifying people and places. You don't need them. The audience will figure it out. And finally, I want to see what this team does next. It is obvious to me that they respect the audience because they bust their asses to deliver as much as they can. The only thing they lack is a little experience. The only way to gain experience is to make more films. Carry on!

A Hugely Ambitious Sci-Fi Adventure
john-516921 September 2007
Judging by some of the reviews on this site, you would think no one had ever seen an independently produced film. As a hugely ambitious science-fiction adventure clearly made without either budget or professional actors, 'Displaced' is nothing short of astonishing. Rough as the edges may be, owing to apparent financial restraints, the film remains a testament to the skill and tenacity of its director, Martin Holland and producer Mark Strange.

In its current state 'Displaced' is less a completed, commercial movie than it is a calling card by a production team of promise - a six-years-in-the-making showcase for moments of high action and suspense crafted with technical ingenuity and a natural instinct for the pulse of popular cinema. The eye, and the art, of this most resourceful and resilient director and producer team deserve a little more respect.
