New Characters Coming to 'FlashForward'

7 November 2009 10:28 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

The following article was originally posted on hyperMosaic.com by Sam McPherson. You can read the original article there.

If you haven’t already caught on to it, FlashForward is getting into a habit of playing its hand slowly, especially as far as cast goes. As opposed to many other serialized shows, where most of the main characters were introduced in the first episodes, FlashForward means to add to its main cast gradually. We’ve already seen this in the introduction of characters like Gabrielle Union’s Zoey and Dominic Monaghan’s Simon, and we should be seeing it in the future, according to showrunner David Goyer.

“We’re introducing quite a few new characters down the line,” Goyer told MTV. Among those characters is the Japanesse woman from Bryce’s vision. “…her name is Keiko,” Goyer revealed, though he was deliberately tight-lipped about any more details, instead simply telling »

Exclusive: David Goyer Teases Future 'FlashForward' Characters

6 November 2009 11:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Last night's episode of "FlashForward" took one character off the board while introducing another in the form of Blue Hand associate Jeff Slingerland, played by Callum Keith Rennie of "Battlestar Galactica" fame. It's a tradition that fans of the ABC series should get used to, as executive producer and showrunner David Goyer told MTV News that there are plenty of new characters waiting in the wings as the episodes progress.

"We're introducing quite a few new characters down the line," said Goyer, who revealed that he and the "FlashForward" writers have already penned episodes with the adult version of the scarred Somalian boy from episode three. "We have already written that character as an adult. We're hoping to have a certain actor play him. We haven't nailed it down yet, but we're crossing our fingers."

Several "FlashForward" fans and reviewers have speculated that Michael K. Williams — who famously played stick-up »

The Visitors Have Arrived: Our Thoughts On ABC's 'V' Pilot

3 November 2009 9:29 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Episode Title: "Pilot"

Written By: Scott Peters (teleplay) & Kenneth Johnson (story)

Synopsis: Men, women and children all around the world are shocked and awed by the sudden arrival of the Visitors, an alien race that appears throughout Earth by way of massive hovercrafts. The various ships all echo the same projected message from Anna (Morena Baccarin), the leader of the V's: "We are of peace, always."

But discoveries over the course of the next several weeks lead some to realize that the Visitors do not come in peace, nor is their arrival as sudden as most people think — indeed, the Visitors have been among us for quite some time, and their intentions are anything but peaceful.

Plot/Pacing: Alien invasions are commonplace in the realm of science fiction, so it's really more a question of execution than it is originality. In the case of "V," I thought the pilot worked »

New “EastEnders”' Character (Finally) Brings Diversity to Soaps

3 November 2009 12:09 PM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

When you look at the history of gay or bisexual people of color on soap operas, it’s a pretty monochromatic picture. With the exception of Nick Chavez, a part Cherokee, part Mexican-American gay character on ABC's One Life to Live, the closeted bisexual Chad Harris on the now canceled Passions, and Ravi Roy, a bisexual southeast Asian character on Britain’s Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks, most previous gay or bisexual male soap characters have been white.

Nick Chavez, Chad Harris, Ravi Roy

But as regular readers of AfterElton.com's Gays of Our Lives column well know, EastEnders, a long-running soap on Britain’s BBC One (and one of the U.K.'s highest-rated programs), recently added some much needed color to the picture. It's something that anyone interested in gay male visibility — soap opera fan or not — will find interesting.

On April 21, 2009, the show introduced the character of Syed Masood, »

'Flash Forward' Gets a Bad Guy in Michael Ealy

8 October 2009 11:30 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Here's a Flash Forward casting alert, which may mean good news to some but certainly not for Agent Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes).  According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Michael Ealy of Sleeper Cell fame has been tapped for a recurring role on the series.  As who?  Well, let's just say it's time to meet our villain.  Or one of them anyway.

Reports have confirmed that Ealy will be portraying the "nemesis" of Benford as he tries to deal with the consequences of the blackouts.  That is, finding out just exactly who was responsible for them.  Could it be this guy?

'FlashForward' 1.04 Preview: Black Swan

8 October 2009 11:05 PM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

The reason why Demetri did not get a vision of his future while the others did during the global blackout has started to come into sense with Nhadra Udaya telling him a specific date. In the preview for the next "FlashForward" episode, Nhadra said March 15, 2010 and Demetri later told Mark that he is not just gonna die, but murdered.

In "Black Swan", Demetri accuses Mark of waiting for the future he saw in his flashforward to come true without incident, while Mark feels Demetri is letting his fear of what he witnessed envelop his life. Olivia struggles to accept Bryce's suggestion that a patient's flashforward holds the key to a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Meanwhile, Nicole returns to work as Mark and Olivia's daughter's baby-sitter, and discloses her shocking future vision involving a murder. "Black Swan" airs Thursday, October 15.

Michael Ealy to Recur on FlashForward

1 October 2009 1:00 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Michael Ealy has landed a recurring role on FlashForward.

The actor - most recently seen in an episode of Hawthorne, but best known as the lead in the underrated Showtime mini-series Sleeper Cell - will debut on the drama's 10th episode.

Not a lot is known about his role, except for this: his character will cause problems for Joseph Fiennes' Mark Benford.

FlashForward will reunite Ealy with Sonya Walger, who played his love interest on Sleeper Cell. »

"FlashForward" predicts a lesbian kiss

29 September 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

One of the more intriguing premiers last week was new show FlashForward, which features lovely British actress Sonya Walger, whom you might have seen in Lost, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles or Sleeper Cell.

Walger plays Dr. Olivia Benford, who is in the middle of surgery when the pivotal series event, the “flash forward” occurs. Everyone in the world blacks out for two minutes and 17 seconds and sees the future as it will happen on April 29, 2010 at 10 p.m. Chaos ensues.

FlashForward raises interesting questions about how we would live if we knew the future and whether that future can be changed. I agree with scribegrrrl’s assessment that the key to the show’s success will be more emphasis on the apocalyptic and less on the sentimental.

Of particular interest to us, however, is a scene in the promo for Episode 2, which may be the kind of sentiment we love: girl-on-girl. »

Any takers for the 'Takers' trailer?

11 September 2009 7:18 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Hey, Matt Dillon! And Idris Elba! And...a trailer that looks like it was made from other trailers' left-overs. Better luck next time, Michael Ealy, T.I., Hayden Christensen, Zoe Saldana, Jay Hernandez, and Paul Walker. (I'm not sure I wish you better luck next time, Chris Brown.) Oh yeah, Takers also has the most poorly Photoshopped poster in recent memory. I love a good heist movie, and rag-tag groups of criminals, and trucks falling in holes (I guess?). Plus I was obsessed with Ealy on Sleeper Cell (underrated) and Elba on The Wire. But this just looks like blah-o-matic 9000 to me, PopWatchers. Are you with me? Or are you...taken with Takers? »

Raising the Bar: The Complete First Season - Clips Added

4 June 2009 5:46 AM, PDT | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Raising the Bar is a somewhat predictable law show, but it manages to stay entertaining thanks to its cast. The series is from Emmy-winning producer Steven Bocho, but it seems to lack the bite of some of his past television success . most notably NYPD Blue. The series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (NYPD Blue), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle), Gloria Reuben (ER), Currie Graham (Desperate Housewives, NYPD Blue), Melissa Sagemiller (Sleeper Cell), Teddy Sears (Ugly Betty), Natalia Cigliuti (All My Children), and J. August Richards (Conviction). All 10 episodes from Season One get collected on a three-disc set that also comes with several features to take fans behind the scenes. The series follows a group of »

NBC Announces New Shows, Including “Day One”

5 May 2009 5:10 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

On Monday, May 5th 2009, The Jay Leno network NBC announced a slate of new shows at their In-Fronts for the 2009 / 2010 television season.  No the above screen shot is not from their in-fronts.  It’s a behind the scenes shot from NBC’s new show, Day One.

Keeping in mind that we here at Screen Rant are all about action / adventure and sci-fi / fantasy (with a dribble of comedy). I’ve left out some details on the new NBC comedy shows but only because we do like our action-adventure shows.  Rather than babble about what I am going to say, I might as well get right to it:

Day One

Day One is a new futuristic drama that will premiere out of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the premise sounds awful familiar.
