  • A plane is shot down and crashes into the ground, throwing out the pilot.
  • There is much shooting throughout, but most results in the intended targets not being hit.
  • A fighter jet bombs a few buildings (explosions are depicted).
  • Film footage of the Saigon bombings, with bombs dropping and explosions.
  • A man shoots a group of men in the chest and abdomen (They fall backwards, and we see brief glimpses of bloody bullet holes; some, but little blood).
  • A character is tortured by being put into a neck-high well and forced to stay afloat while bound.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The main characters are in danger and under threat during most of the film.
  • The main characters are forced to eat disgusting foods and live in squalid conditions.
  • The instances of violence and gunfire are intense.
  • Some extremely tense scenes depict prisoners of war attempting to rebel against their captors.

Violence & Gore

  • A man swings a scythe at a pleading, kneeling man, slicing open the latter's leg (A bloody cut is shown). The latter screams and the attacker swings the axe again, beheading him (This is offscreen, but we later see the aftermath which depicts the victim's severed head and body lying on the ground in a pool of blood).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A very emotionally intense tone, but especially throughout the second half of the movie during the escape and showing Dieter and Duane's physical and mental degeneration in disturbing detail.
