Factual errors: When Drs Garrigan and Junju are discussing the chest X-ray it is the wrong way round - back to front.
Anachronisms: In some of the street scenes in Kampala there are large glass fronted office buildings visible in the background. These were not there in the 1970s when the film was set.
Revealing mistakes: During the crowd scene in the village, set around 1972, a man can be seen wearing a Canadian Scout Uniform that wasn't issued until 1994.
Anachronisms: In 1971 in Uganda number plates were letters and numbers.
Anachronisms: In the scene where the children run beside Amin's car and wave to Garrigan, thinking the president is inside the car, a digital wristwatch is visible at one child's arm, especially in the slow motion at the end of the film.
Anachronisms: In the scene where the President and the Doctor travel to Entebbe airport in the soft-top Mercedes and are ambushed - two white Bedford trucks block them to the front and the rear. The trucks are AWD Bedford's with a silver AWD logo mounted on the front. AWD took over Bedford trucks only in 1989 some 10-years after Amin was removed from Uganda (in 1979)
Anachronisms: When the students are jumping into the water, we see a modern minibus in the background.
Anachronisms: Just prior to dealing with the Entebbe hostage situation in 1976, Amin is shown sitting beside an issue of Bullet comic from 1977.
Anachronisms: The Southern Comfort bottle shown in the Duty Free shop in the airport is of the 21st century 70 proof blend, a bottle from this time period would have been 76 proof with a different label.
Anachronisms: The Amarula liquor bottles shown in the Duty Free shop in the airport couldn't have been there at that time, because this South-African product wasn't marketed until 1989.
Factual errors: Idi Amin held the rank of General until 1975, then promoted himself to Field Marshal. Throughout the movie, he wears insignia of both these ranks at differing times, making it appear that he continually switched between them. On the 'working' uniform, he always appears as a General (crossed swords, pip and coat of arms) where as in the 'dress' uniform he always appears as a Field Marshal (crossed sword and baton enclosed in oak leaves)
Factual errors: According to the closing sequences, only one hostage was killed during the rescue operation at Entebbe Airport. Actually, three of the hostages were killed during the raid - Jean-Jacques Maimoni, Pasko Cohen and Ida Borochovitch. Fourth hostage, Dora Bloch, was later killed by Ugandan army officers at the Mulago Hospital in Kampala.
Anachronisms: (At 01:47:53) At the end of the movie, when Amin's men at the airport see that Garrigan has escaped we can clearly see a flat screen TV set in the same lounge at the back.
