David Gordon Green, who would end up directing the film, first worked on the script for another director. After 3 years, this other director moved on to other projects and Green was approached by the producers to make the film. moreGoofs:
Continuity: In the scene where Arthur takes a swig from a bottle of beer hidden on the floor, he raises it with the label facing him. In the next cut scene, as he lowers the bottle, the label can be clearly seen facing the camera. moreQuotes:
Louise Parkinson: Arthur, I'm gonna ask you a favour to not bottle this up inside, okay? It's easy for us to block out the things that upset us, that's what I do. That's what most people do. But it's important that you feel through this, it's so important I can't tell you. moreSoundtrack:

(In the style of Real Life 80's hit song "Send Me An Angel")
Do you believe in trauma above Do you believe in cold love I won't tell a lie I won't be a false or untrue It will all come back to you Open fire on Sam Rockwell's character yearning heart Glenn's never been lucky in love His performance is not down through a kiss or a frown But it can't survive on its own If a girl like Annie played by Kate Beckinsale carves her name in a movie part I will not turn and run away Everyday Glenn being led astray It's hard for him to be lucky in love It's gets in his eyes It's making him cry Don't know what to Don't know what to do He is stalking at Annie calling heaven above
Snow Angels Snow Angels See it right now See it right now Snow Angels Snow Angels See it right now See it right now
Empty dreams can only disappoint in this northern town for a long while But they don't give up They don't give up They can be lucky in love This movie gets in your eyes It's making you cry Don't know what to do Don't know what to do You will be looking at love even with trauma above

(End of song)
OK, let me get to the real life of the film review of "Snow Angels". The film is a very gripping but authentic take on family ordeals in a small northern town. The aforementioned Kate Beckinsale stars as Annie Marchand, a caring mother of a 5 year-old who is separated from her emotionally unstable husband Glenn Marchand played by Sam Rockwell. Glenn is also the father of the 5-year old Tara, and he is a loving dad even though his mental psyche is on the O.C.D. side. Rockwell and Beckinsale both delivered powerful snowplow thespian work here! Annie is having an affair with her best friend's selfish husband Nate Petite (Nicky Katt); who also happens to have a petite ? OK, I am not going there and the film did not go there either. This Petite putz is your prototype hypocritical scumbag who tries to mate with all the females in town. A devilish circumstance midway through the narrative causes havoc on these snow angels; and I am not referring to Annie's backstabbing skills. The heavenly angelic side of "Snow Angels" comes in the form of Arthur Parkinson and Lila Raybern, sweetly played by Michael Angarano and Olivia Thirlby. Arthur is a member of his high school band who also deals with some family issues due to the sudden separation of his parents. Olivia is the new teen girl in town. Their blossoming relationship is the antithesis and the hopefulness to the other tragic narrative elements of the film. Griffin Dunne plays Don, Michael's contrived father who is also a teacher at his school. Dunne proves that he is not done in demonstrating that he is still a solid character actor. It's always good for the movie environment when upstart, talented Writer-Director David Gordon Green is helming a film. Go Green! Gordon Green's screenplay was also poignant, reflective, and heartbreaking. "Snow Angels" by no means is a perfect film; it was kind of flaky at times with Glenn's O.C.D. creepiness. Nevertheless, I highly recommend that you do an angelic deed to the movie society and see "Snow Angels" today! **** Good
