Boning Up on Skull Heads

28 September 2009 1:50 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Giove is a small village sited on the peak of a hill not far from Rome. It’s a cloudy and dark day when Fango arrives, and after a U-turn off the long, winding road leading there, the 900-year-old castle comes into view where the shooting of Skull Heads (out on DVD October 6) and Demonic Toys 2: Personal Demons (being helmed by Gingerdead Man 2’s William Butler; coming in December), two new horror movies from Charles Band’s Full Moon company, is taking place.

As soon as Fango enters the huge structure, a production assistant leads the way to the dungeon: the court of Band himself, owner of the castle, which he hasn’t filmed in since Meridian and Stuart Gordon’s The Pit And The Pendulum in the early ’90s. “It has been more than 15 years since we last shot a movie here,” he says. “You know, I have …

Joe Lynch's Latest Episode of Body Count

17 September 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

G4's just posted their latest offering of Body Count , a genre based web series hosted by Wrong Turn 2 director Joe Lynch. In this episode, "Classic Horror Movies for the End Of Summer", Lynch profiles and recommends three of his favorite goriffic horror flicks - Roy Frumkes and Jim Muro's infamous Street Trash , the legendary Hong Kong shocker Ebola Syndrome (Yi boh lai beng duk) and Chris Sivertson's The Lost adapted from the Jack Ketchum novel. Ok, that last one isn't really "goriffic", but it is disturbing and highly recommended, even by this writer. Check out the episode below: Video Game - E3 2009 - Attack of the Show …

Writer/director talks his (blood) Red, White & Blue

29 June 2009 1:41 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Word came down this morning that British writer/director Simon Rumley (pictured left), who shocked and startled viewers with The Living And The Dead, has now shifted to American soil for his latest feature Red, White & Blue. Described as “a realistic, dark revenge movie,” it’s currently shooting in Austin, TX, and Fango got in touch with Rumley for more details.

Produced by Bob Portal and Simon Markham, the film is executive-produced by Masters Of Horror/Fear Itself’s Adam Goldworm, Doug Abbot, Judy Lipsey and Tim League (first photo, at left with Rumley), who heads up Austin’s celebrated Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas. After Living And The Dead won five awards at the city’s Fantastic Fest (on which League serves as co-director), Rumley decided to shoot his next feature there and not only spent a great deal of time researching and scouting locations, but sent an e-mail blast to …

Author Jack Ketchum Talks 'Offspring' Adaptation

11 April 2009 10:19 AM, PDT | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Three for three, that's pretty damn good. Thus far I've seen three Jack Ketchum adaptations (Red, The Girl Next Door, The Lost) and have enjoyed all of them, quite a bit actually. Next up is Offspring, the first (that I'm aware of) that Ketchum actually adapted for the big screen. Today we posted our exclusive one-on-one interview with the legendary horror author that can be read by clicking here. In the film directed by Andrew Van Den Houten, survivors of a feral flesh-eating clan are chowing their way through the locals. Amy Halbard and Claire Carey strive to survive their abduction by the cannibals and save their children. A subplot involving Claire's despicable husband, Steven, gives an opportunity to cleverly compare predatory civilized folk to the appetite-driven primitives. …
