Tyler Perry has wrapped production on the third movie in his four-picture deal with Amazon MGM Studios, a drama led by “P-Valley” and “Mea Culpa” star Shannon Thornton and “Run The World’s” Tosin Morohunfola.
Perry wrote, directed and produced the film, which recently wrapped filming on location in Colorado and at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta under the working title “Joy Ridge.”
“Amidst the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, Joy (Thornton) finds herself on a holiday trip with a man she envisions as ‘the one,” the film’s official logline reads. “However, her journey takes an enchanting turn as she stumbles upon someone who might just redefine her notions about the life she once knew back home.”
Tyler Perry Studios executives Angi Bones and Will Areu produced the film alongside Perry, who has now announced three of the movies in the four-picture deal he inked with Amazon in November 2022. Last June,...

You might say Chris Pratt has been preparing for his next role for months.
On Sunday, Pratt debuts as “Mr. P,” the ubiquitous and mustachioed mascot who has long appeared on behalf of Pringles, the potato-chips-in-a-can that are made by Kellanova. The key? A thick mustache the actor says he grew during the recent Hollywood work stoppage that got him noticed by the executives behind Pringles.
“I grew it out and shaved down the sides, and it curled up,” Pratt tells Variety in an interview. His spouse, Katharine Schwarzenegger, told him the mustache just might have legs. “That’s actually a good look for a character. Have you ever played a character with that type of mustache?” he says she asked him. “I kept it. I must have posted something on social media,” he says, which is how a broader set of observers noticed the look. Pringles soon came calling.

Gaming’s biggest awards night returns on December 7 with The Game Awards 2023, and the nominees are in across more than 30 categories. As expected, it’s crowded at the top for nominations, with Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate III and Alan Wake II leading the way with 8 nominations each.
The big question (as with most years) is the Game of the Year Award. This year, Baldur’s Gate III and Alan Wake II are up for the award, but Nintendo has an edge with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also nominated, as is Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake, which has three nominations in total.
Aside from Resident Evil 4 and Alan Wake II, horror gaming is represented by Lies of P (Best Art Direction and Best RPG), Dead Space (Best Audio), Diablo IV (Best Multiplayer and Innovation in...

When Brian Cox joined the new reality competition series 007: Road to a Million, he admitted that he thought he signed up for something a little different.
During Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show, the Succession star told host Jimmy Fallon, “I thought it was the new James Bond film.”
“So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re getting me in a James Bond movie,” he continued. “I thought, ‘Yes, of course!’
But to Cox’s disappointment, he quickly learned that “there was no script and there was no James Bond movie.”
He added, “For years, I thought, you know I would love to be in James Bond. It would be really interesting. And I thought this was my moment, but it wasn’t.” Instead, he played the game controller and orchestrated the series’ challenges in 007: Road to a Million.

The lucky few managed to snag a Mission Impossible 7-branded umbrella. There were dozens of them, neatly arranged on the marble banisters of the Spanish Steps, the majestic staircase of Rome’s Piazza di Spagna that is no stranger to large-scale social events, but rarely finds itself the center of a global premiere like this: The bow of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One.

The Dow Jones nosedived this afternoon as the Federal Reserve – which has raised interest rates ten times since last year – held them steady for June but indicated that more hikes are on the way.
A pause in the aggressive increases meant to stem inflation was expected, but hawkish commentary in a statement out of today’s Fed meeting wasn’t. A majority of governors are in favor of raising rates again this year and two more increases are expected. The Fed gave a target 5.6% terminal rate, or where it wants the number to settle. Chairman Jerome Powell just wrapped a press conference to take questions on the Fed’s thinking.
The Djia reversed course on the news, turning lower by nearly 400 points midafternoon. It’s off its lows. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 — both off by about half a percentage point on the announcement — also recovered somewhat but were jittery as Powell spoke.

Apple has entered the virtual and augmented reality arena, announcing a long-anticipated new headset and platform called Vision Pro.
CEO Tim Cook called VR and Ar “profound technology” with “revolutionary” potential during the climactic minutes of the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference. Cook said the product followed in the illustrious lineage of the company’s Mac personal computer line and the iPhone. It is the first major new device launch by the company since the Apple Watch nine years ago.
The company said its “spatial computing” system relies on a fluid interface picking up on signals and movements from a user’s eyes and hands as well as Siri voice recognition. Those inputs differ from those of many existing VR setups, which require the use of physical controllers along with headsets.

Walt Disney and its CEO Bob Iger mostly earned good grades from analysts on Thursday following the Hollywood conglomerate’s latest quarterly results, but some on Wall Street slightly lowered their stock price targets, saying progress towards streaming profitability and other goals would take more time.
In early February, Iger’s first earnings update since his return as Walt Disney CEO featured the promise of a big restructuring, including a massive 7,000 job cuts and a whopping $3 billion in content cost savings, as well as news that streamer Disney+ had lost subscribers for the first time.
Disney’s latest earnings report and conference call late on May 10 gave analysts more to digest and assess. Quarterly results beat or met Wall Street expectations on most key metrics, including revenue, with the conglomerate’s streaming loss continuing to narrow by hitting $659 million in the latest quarter, down from a loss of $887 million in...

“House of the Dragon” looks set to, uh, cook up a storm at this year’s Emmys including bids for many of the cast. Among those most deserving of consideration is Olivia Cooke, who plays the older version of Queen Alicent Hightower in the HBO epic.
Set a century before “Game of Thrones,” “House of the Dragon” depicts the blossoming conflict between several major Westeros families after Paddy Considine‘s King Viserys names his daughter Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock/Emma D’Arcy) as his heir. This leads to various parties vying for the Iron Throne in the ongoing Targaryen war of succession. Alicent Hightower marries King Viserys and births a son, Aegon Targaryen (Ty Tennant/Tom Glynn-Carney), who later challenges for the throne.
As such, Cooke is a major player in “House of the Dragon” and appears in the last half of season one, starting with episode six’s “The Princess and the Queen.

"Gravity Falls" creator Alex Hirsch has never been shy about venting his frustrations with Disney's censors. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the series, he tweeted out a video of his most insane back-and-forths with Disney's Standards & Practices division, who were deeply concerned about risque jokes like Soos Ramirez wearing a teddy bear costume or a horse smoking a pipe. The squeaky clean House of Mouse could never survive vulgar content like -- checks notes -- the phrase "poop-face."
The most frustrating instances arose any time the series dared to portray or even hint at a same-sex couple. Something that the "Gravity Falls" creatives dared to try, over and over again. Once, they even succeeded in getting something through — but that win didn't come until the series finale.
Throughout the show's two-season run, fans suspected that the relationship between Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland was romantic. The chemistry, the twinkle...

Lukas Gage’s life has taken a complete 180 ever since he became a viral hit after releasing the now-infamous video of director Tristram Shapeero disparaging his apartment following a Zoom audition.
Since then, he’s appeared in “The White Lotus,” “Euphoria” and “You.” He’ll next star in “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” and was recently at SXSW to premiere “Down Low,” a raunchy queer comedy he not only co-wrote with Phoebe Fisher but also stars in with Zachary Quinto.
Gage is also becoming a go-to celeb for brand endorsements. Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these movies, and many more, at Trailers From Hell. This week, we fondly remember some of George Segal’s work after his recent passing.
In 1972’s The Hot Rock, Segal got second billing to Robert Redford in the story of a diamond heist which keeps going south, showing that even the best-laid plans can always blow up in your face. Take the making of this movie, for example. The critics thought it was good, but not great. The director, Peter Yates, said that despite an interesting story and a wonderful cast, the butts just didn’t get into the seats. Go figure.
As a tribute to the movie, punk rockers Sleater-Kinney named one of their albums after it, although I feel “Afghanistan banana stand” would have been a better name. At least it would have been more memorable,...

AMC Entertainment shares were up more than 16% in midday trading in the midst of an aggressive rally powered by Gozilla Vs. Kong‘s $285 million global box office that “destroys lingering concerns around theatrical window importance and demonstrates a solid path to resurgence,” according to one Wall Street analyst.
In a note early Monday, Eric Wold of B Riley slapped a “buy” rating on the stock and raised his price target to $13 from $7. The shares were changing hands at over $11 fueled not by Reddit weirdness this time around but concrete evidence of pent-up demand for the big screen that movie chains and supporters have predicted throughout the pandemic. (Retail traders egged on by Reddit chatroom WallStreetBets had bid the stock past $20 to an all-time high earlier this year.)
Imax, Cinemark and National CineMedia also popped, up 4%, 5.2% and 2.9% respectively. Marcus nosed up 4.2%.

Pale Waves’ tour bus crashed about a year ago, overturning and sliding off a road into the snow between Stockholm and Berlin while the band was on their way to a gig supporting Halsey in an arena run. Drummer Ciara Doran said everyone on board thought they were going to die. One of the people injured from the incident was Caroline Smith, the British rock band’s tour manager, who planned to take a week off to recover — but that week stretched into an entire year, as the pandemic locked down the live music industry.

Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these movies, and many more, at Trailers From Hell. This week we remove our beanies for another great who is no longer with us, Hal Holbrook.
I saw Hal Holbrook decades ago in Texas, doing his Mark Twain show. My companion at the time raised a bit of a fuss and got up to leave during the performance, with me following. Holbrook saw us leaving and said from his rocking chair, “Must be Democrats.” It may have been “Must be Republicans,” but time has blurred the edges of that brush with fame. There may not, in fact, have been a rocking chair. I sincerely hope I wasn’t identified publicly as a Republican, even in Orange, Texas.
By that time, Holbrook’s appearance in 1977’s Rituals was a distant memory. The film was also known as The Creeper.

Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these
movies, and many more, at Trailers From Hell. Here are a trio of films which explore the difficulty of being black in America, and pose responses to that difficulty in varying scenarios.[p]Blast! is the 1976 retitling of the 1972 blaxploitation film, The Final Comedown. Seeing the confrontation between black radicals and the cops may put you in mind of today’s headlines. However, in the movie both sides are shooting, not just one. Billy Dee Williams stars in it, and additional footage of him was shot for the re-release.
How about a wine made by a black winemaker? Theodora Lee owns and operates Theopolis Vineyards in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County. Ms. Lee makes a dandy Pinot Noir, but try one of her several Petite Sirah wines, right around $40.

A broad market plunge dragged showbiz shares lower Monday from big media to broadcasters, exhibition, social media and streaming. Investors are fretting about a U.S. spike in coronavirus infections and new lockdowns across Europe that threaten economic growth.
A stimulus agreement could help but remains elusive, ratcheting up uncertainty – the thing markets hate most. It’s not clear if, even post-election, pandemic aid or contested elections will dominate conversation in Washington, D.C. So airlines and cruise lines were pummeled and investor sentiment turned sharply lower late morning, sparking a widespread decline.
The Djia was down more than 800 points, or almost 3% in early afternoon trading. The S&P 500 was off 2.47% and the Nasdaq was 2.31%.
Easy targets like movie chains AMC Entertainment and Cinemark has lost, respectively, 8% and 9%. Walt Disney was off 3.4% and Comcast 2.5%. Broadcasters Sinclair and Tegna had slipped by 4%. Lionsgate was down by 5.4%, Discovery by 3.6% and AMC Networks by 2.3%.
Netflix drooped 1.5%. Snap,...

President Donald Trump said that he is postponing talks for another Covid-19 relief bill until after the Nov. 3, a move that will delay or put in jeopardy relief for a wide swath of entertainment industry employees, movie theaters and live event venues.
Trump blamed the delay on Democrats’ demands for relief for state and local governments.
He wrote on Twitter, “Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to Covid-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their…

Ms. Fontana gained global notoriety for her writing and story editing on the 1960’s television series Star Trek, as well as the 1970’s animated series, which she also associate produced. Her myth-building work on classic Trek blazed a trail for women, not only in television, but also in science fiction. Her well-known screen credit kept the fact of her gender a secret from most fans until they saw her picture in Stephen Whitfield’s The Making of Star Trek, one of the “bibles” of classic Trekker fandom.
Dorothy Fontana was responsible for creating Spock’s childhood history, including the essential story “Yesteryear,” which though produced for Star Trek: The Animated Series, is as powerful as the best episodes of the classic series. When we talk about a probability, we talk about how something is likely to happen. The idea of probability is much to do about studying chances. It’s a part of mathematics that ascertains how one event might or might not happen.
Probability, however, is just a guide so studying it will not guarantee something happening. Tossing a coin and throwing dices are two of the most common examples.
Basic Types of Probability Classical Probability
This is a very common type of probability and can be demonstrated most easily by considering what happens when you roll a pair of dice or toss a coin in the air. When a referee tosses a coin at the beginning of a football game, and it lands on the field, only two possibilities will occur, heads or tails.
The odds of it falling on a certain side can be calculated by determining all of the possible outcomes,...
