I still think it's odd that 20th Century Fox hasn't released a new poster here in the States for The X-Files: I Want To Believe , which leads me to believe that the movie is going to fall way short of expectations. It's nice, though, to see a new international poster that puts both stars - David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson - in the forefront, instead of a giant "X". Read on for a look and check out Chris Carter's sequel in theaters July 25th. The studio is keeping the film's logline under wraps, but stressed the pic is a stand-alone story and supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully in new directions.

David Duchovny struggled to understand co-star Gillian Anderson on the set of the new X-Files movie - because she spoke with a strong English accent.
The actress was born in the U.S. but lived in London until the age of 11, and has now returned to live in the British capital with partner Mark Griffiths.
And her new speaking voice caused great confusion for Duchovny on the set of the forthcoming film The X-Files: I Want To Believe.
He recalls, "I didn't understand a word she said. She's got an English accent now. It's very odd. We had a good time though."

X-Files star Gillian Anderson is selling off her vast collection of memorabilia from the cult sci-fi show to raise cash for her favourite charities.
More than 500 rare and signed items will be auctioned off by website eBay.com's Giving Works charity division from 17 July, as fans of the hit TV show franchise get ready for the new X-Files film, I Want To Believe.
And Anderson admits there are one or two keepsakes she's already having second thoughts about selling.
She says, "There's an FBI file that I'm a bit hesitant to auction because it may be one of only two in existence - but I'm doing it anyway.
"And almost all the behind the scene photographs bring back extremely vivid memories.
"They're actually quite intimate... compared to all the posed photos out there."
Auction Cause boss Eric Gazin, who will manage the charity sale, adds, "A lot of the items have been in storage for years.
"I guess Gillian has accumulated a lot of stuff and she feels it's time to give back to the fans and raise some charity funds in the process.
"For us, the highlights include a cross necklace (Anderson's character) Agent Scully wore on the TV show and a real X-Files case file. It's an amazing collection."
The charities that will benefit from the haul Anderson's collection is expected to fetch include Artists for a New South Africa and BuskAid.
Meanwhile, as fans await the opening of the auction, they can currently bid on the chance to attend the upcoming X-Files premiere and meet Anderson as part of another eBay/Auction Cause bidding war.
Bids for that item have reached $1,000 (GBP500). Bidding closes on 17 July.

Actress Gillian Anderson fears the success of the new X-Files movie will give fans the chance to check out one of her most embarrassing moments.
The flame-haired star taped a spoof audition for the American Idol Gives Back charity telethon in 2007, but her singing was deemed so bad the clip was cut from the show.
And now Anderson is back in the spotlight as the star of the much-anticipated X-Files movie sequel, I Want To Believe, she worries the awful footage will be unearthed.
She says, "I pretended to audition for American Idol acapella, and do a really bad job, which of course they never used. But I'm sure it will pop up at some point now to embarrass me."

"Would you stop shining that light in my damned face! Wha... wait... what is that?"
Photo: 20th Century Fox I had to do it, I had to use the exclamation point in the headline because it's six brand spanking new pics sent over by Fox exclusive to RopeofSilicon.com from The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Why RopeofSilicon? Why indeed. Perhaps it's because we kick much ass, and our set visit article was so demonstratively kick ass that they made us remove even our tongue-in-cheek story details all while one spoiler remains if you can find the clues. I'm tellin' yah, it's right in front of your face folks. Anyway, thanks goes out to Fox and their reps and the boys and girls behind-the-scenes working on The X-Files: I Want to Believe as they didn't rip into us and were nice enough to shoot us six new exclusive images to share with the fans.

Gillian Anderson has admitted that being reunited with David Duchovny for the new X-Files movie was an "emotional" experience. As a diehard “The X-Files” fan, I’m counting down the days until the release of Chris Carter’s “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” which reunites Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) on the big screen.
Two awesome TV spots popped up on the Web today, and you can check them out below. You’ll see that most of the scenes are taken from the trailer, but if you watch closely, you’ll also be able to watch some new footage. The film opens July 25, 2008.

20th Century Fox has finally fully launched the official website for the highly anticipated release of The X-Files I Want To Believe. While browsing through the site I came across some blogs, one of which was pretty interesting. "some quick answers---i post all in lower case because i am lazy and a bad typist," Duchovny jokes on his blog. "my basketball skills have eroded even as my understanding of the game has increased. i think if this movie does well, that will make it possible to do more x files films and those in turn would definitely swing back into the whole mythology area...."

Val Kilmer, Xzibit and Jennifer Coolidge have signed on to star in Werner Herzog’s upcoming remake of “Bad Lieutenant,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In Abel Ferrara’s original 1992 film, Harvey Keitel played a corrupt New York City cop investigating a young nun’s rape.
In the new version, Nicholas Cage will apparently play a cop who investigates the murder of a group of illegal immigrants. Eva Mendes and Brad Dourif co-star.
Kilmer is playing Cage’s partner, while Xzibit will star as one of the film’s villains. Herzog is directing a script by Billy Finkelstein.
Val Kilmer was last seen on the big screen in Tony Scott’s “Déjà Vu.” Justa few days ago, we reported he joined the cast of “Silver Cord,” which James Ordonez is directing.
Xzibit was last seen in “Gridiron Gang.” He will next star in Chris Carter’s “The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Actress Gillian Anderson was exhausted when shooting scenes for her role in The X-Files movie - because she was so out of shape.
The star reprised her role as Agent Dana Scully for a big screen adaptation of the sci-fi series after a six year break.
And Anderson admits she had let her physical health slip.
She says, "There was a lot of rust I had to shake-off. The physical part surprised me the most when we started shooting because it was a lot tougher than expected.
"I was 24 when I first started the television series and now I'm almost 40. I just feel really old for some reason.
"David (Duchovny) is in a lot better shape than I am. That's why he gets so many more stunts for the film."

Mulder continues his unshakable quest for the truth, and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably tied to Mulder's pursuits.

Love it or hate it, The X-Files was a cultural milestone that brought horror back in a big way. Like the rest of America, I went through the mid-Nineties completely addicted and eagerly anticipated the Friday night paranoia of agents Mulder and Scully. But following the departure of writers Glen Morgan & James Wong and the first big screen movie, the show took a creative nosedive and slowly burnt out through season after season of bad story arcs. Now, seven years later, The X-Files: I Want To Believe hopes to reignite the glory days for a whole new generation. But can Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz restore the elements that made us fall in love with the series?
The duo came out to the L.A. Film Festival with star David Duchovny to screen footage and talk up the film. The first clip showed the opening scene, where a woman returns

Stunts and action sequences in the new X-files movie left Gillian Anderson feeling old.
The actress, 39, admits she found working on the action movie a gruelling task - as she is not as fit as her co-star David Duchovny. So she left him to do majority of the stunts.
She says, "It was hard work. I'm too old for this. David's in the best shape of his life and did most of the work.
"He's climbing and jumping off cliffs. I was more exhausted by the end of it than he was. I'm a wimp."
The X-Files TV show officially ended in 2002 but the 39 year old revived her character of F.B.I. agent Dana Scully for the series' second full-length feature film X-Files: I Want to Believe, which is due for release later this year.
