Recently, the folks over at Entertainment Weekly got the chance to chat it up with Big Brother host Julie Chen (above right) to get her thoughts on the season 19 houseguests and what they did. She apparently thinks what most of us have been thinking and definitely wasn't afraid to say it. All these houseguests were just Paul's sheep. Julie went as far as to say that this wasn't even Big Brother and that they should've called it "Big Paul!" Ha! Ha! We couldn't agree more. She also said Paul is just going to take that $500,000 away from them like a Big Bad Wolf hiding under a cloak. She stated, "The general feeling I have about this season is that it’s not Big Brother. It’s Big Paul. Paul is running the house. Paul is the puppet master and everyone inside the house is happy to be led by him...

Epix is getting into the scripted business right at the peak of “Peak TV.” But for channel president and CEO Mark Greenberg, the move into original series is the culmination of a plan first put into place nine years ago.
From the beginning, he told IndieWire, “Part of the game plan was original series.” But first, the premium service, a joint venture between Viacom, Lionsgate and MGM, had to reach critical mass. A deal with Time Warner Cable two years ago upped Epix’s availability to 50 million homes, giving the channel reason to expand its brand.
Under programming head Jocelyn Diaz (who joined in 2015), Epix is kicking off its scripted lineup this fall with the spy thriller “Berlin Station” and the political satire “Graves.” A TV adaptation of “Get Shorty” will follow in 2017. Epix also continues to air specials and documentaries, including the new series “America Divided,” a discussion about inequality in the U.

A Tweet sent out from the Official Hotline Miami Twitter feed has confirmed that Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is shooting for a third quarter 2014 release. The Dennaton Games developed sequel was first announced back in June 2013 and will be hitting the PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Linux, Mac and PlayStation Vita.
As the next entry in the absurdly violent shooter franchise, Hotline Maimi 2: Wrong Number will continue the story of Jacket following his killing spree against the Russian mob. Part of the game will place you into the shoes of an actor acting out the events of the first film for a movie, while another part of the game will focus on the cult-like fans of Jacket who wish to follow in his bloody footsteps.
The original Hotline Miami was one of my favorite titles of 2012, so I’m eagerly anticipating stepping into the neon-soaked world of the series once again.

The Following star James Purefoy has spoken to Digital Spy about the "more character based" second season.
Purefoy told DS that the writing team - led by showrunner Kevin Williamson - were inspired by series like Breaking Bad in writing the new episodes.
The star - who reprises his role as malevolent mastermind Joe Carroll - also promised that season two has been shaped by fan reaction to last year's run.
"There are lots of things about last season that we learnt from," he admitted, noting how season one's FBI plot strand "irritated" some viewers.
Purefoy's character Carroll appeared to perish in a fiery inferno in the first season finale, but will return with a "somewhat different persona".
"Part of the game you have to play when you're doing a show like this - especially if it's a thriller - is you have to lie a lot!" the actor said.

It’s definitely the year of the zombies.
After “Warm Bodies” and “World War Z,” a fun zombie comedy sneaks into the theaters with “Detention of the Dead.”
This is a small budget zombie indie film that is a cross between “The Breakfast Club” and “Shaun of the Dead.” It follows a group of high school students stuck in detention as the zombie infection spreads outside the hall.
Latino-Review caught up with “Detention of the Dead” director Alex Craig Mann in person to discuss about the approach with the John Hughes-like story and the traditional slow moving zombie hoard. Mann also even discussed a little about possibly adapting it into a television project.
“Detention of the Dead” is in select theaters today. It is now available on-demand and digitally purchas on Amazon Instant Video, iTunes and Xbox 360.

News of beloved villain Joseph Morgan leaving "The Vampire Diaries" for his potential new spin-off "The Originals" has been relatively polarizing in the fandom. Some fans feel that his absence will leave "Tvd" lacking, while other fans are looking forward to him taking on a more central role (and, thus, getting much more screen-time) in the new series, which will be set in New Orleans.
But it ain't over 'til it's over, vamp fans! Trust us when we say there's still plenty of story to tell for Klaus in the second half of this season before he, Elijah, and Rebekah potentially leave Mystic Falls in their rear-view mirror. In this week's episode, his season-long rivalry with Tyler will come to a troubling climax, and his complicated relationship with Caroline is only about to get more complicated.

“Glitch” was a charming, laid-back, and whimsical indie Mmo developed and supported by developer Tiny Speck -- a team founded by Flickr creator Stuart Butterfield and eventually joined by “Katamari Damacy” designer Keita Takahashi -- until late last year. When the game started losing players and funds, its servers had to be shut down.
Part of the game lives on in a music-creation iOS app called “Glitchamaphone,” and Tiny Speck recently uploaded sprite sheets and animations for each of the game’s items and inhabitants under a Creative Commons license. This means that anyone is free to use, or alter these assets free of charge, as long as they don’t profit from them -- amateur game designers now have a huge catalog of freely-accessible whimsy at their fingertips.

Ubisoft's horror title ZombiU has been a huge hit since its release on Nintendo Wii U. Fans were excited to see such a terrifying title be brought life to life by one of gamer's most beloved companies, and they did a superb job bringing the undead zombie chaos.
We recently set down with composer Cris Velasco to discuss ZombiU and to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at this new title.
Amanda Dyar: ZombiU was a surprise hit for the newly released Nintendo Wii U after it was announced by developer and publisher Ubisoft back at E3 2012. How will your soundtrack for the unique title help create an atmosphere that will keep Wii U owners hooked to ZombiU?
Cris Velasco: My score had one main purpose: to scare you. I used a combination of percussion, electric guitars, processed human screams, detuned carnival organs, music boxes, and a string quintet...

Returning to the world of Professor Layton is like Alice returning to Wonderland. There’s never any real threat, while you engage in puzzle after puzzle amidst wondrous anime cut scenes, reminiscent of Baccano! Although you’ll never lose your head, you’ll probably get stumped a few times with logic-based conundrums. But have no fear; Professor Layton and his plucky young sidekick Luke Triton approach every brainteaser with a smile.
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask comes to the Nintendo 3Ds just a year after The Last Specter debuted on the DS. Not much has changed in Professor Hershel Layton’s world. Wherever they go Layton and Triton go, some kind of nefarious mystery comes to light. In this game, Professor Layton visits Monte d’Or. It’s a bustling commerce town that seemed to spring up out of nowhere. Layton arrives in town just in time for an anniversary celebration,...

In the first part of a trilogy, Ulrich Seidl explores the subject of sex tourism among rich, middle-aged white women. But does he tell us anything we didn't know already?
There is a lot of what can only be described as Lucian Freud nakedness in the new film from Austrian director Ulrich Seidl, the first of a projected trilogy.
As ever, his tendency is towards the confrontational grotesque, created with icy determination. He also presents his audience with some disturbingly surreal tableaux. But I felt that here his style is in danger of becoming a collection of mannerisms, even cliches.
The subject is one already approached by Laurent Cantet in his 2005 film Heading South: rich, middle-aged white women who take sex-tourist jaunts to developing-world countries to be with handsome, undemanding young men.
Margarethe Tiesel plays divorcee Teresa, who packs her truculent teen daughter off to weight-loss camp (the daughter's...

Insert Credit endeavors to suss out where you should be allotting your video game allowance, sifting out a single title from many and crowning it as The One Game You Need to Get This Week. Don't consider these reviews, gentle reader. Rather, think of Insert Credit as a mix of hands-on time, informed opinion and intuition.
For the week of August 4, 2011, you should insert credit into: "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet."
Like a good cup of strong black coffee, "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet" has been brewing for a little while now. I remember seeing a trailer for the game about a year and a half ago and being intrigued by the smooth animation and great art direction. Whenevr this thing got here, it'd be sure to have charm up the wazoo. But, as always, the crucial question with games is how that pretty thing on the screen feels once you've got a controller in hand.

"Okami" will go down as one of the PlayStation 2's late-life masterworks, a true testament to the types of games that one of the most popular consoles ever could really produce at its pinnacle. As one of the last games developed by Capcom's Clover Studio, it mixed classic Japanese mythology with gorgeous graphics and original gameplay. Five years after its release, it is finally seeing a much-deserved sequel, "Okamiden." Although it's being released on another platform that is in its latter days, "Okamiden" replicates the key elements of its predecessor, while scaling down the gameplay for celestial painting on the go.
The Basics
Nine months after Amerterasu saved Nippon from the evil spirits in "Okami," the land is again threatened, and desperately in need of help. This time around the weighty task of saving Nippon falls on Amerterasu's son, Chibiterasu, a white wolf pup with the same godly abilities as his mother.

While we haven't heard too much on the upcoming Marvel adaptation of Runaways (since Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett came on board to helm the project), the movie appears to be quietly revving up in the form of casting the young leads who will embody writer Brian K. Vaughan's ragtag team of supervillain-children-on-the-run.
You'd think casting an established comic series would be fairly run-of-the-mill - find decent actors that match their illustrated counterparts and you practically have the movie in the can. But in true Hollywood fashion, recently discovered casting notices appear to wave a bright, red flag of trouble.
Our friends at Racebending.com picked up the familiar scent of Airbender when the casting call crossed their path. After matching each character to a description, one stands out: the role of Nico Minrou, Runaway's resident witch and a several-generation Asian-American, which had been ambiguoulsy cast as a "uniquely beautiful,...

Fifty years ago, a brief letter to the editor of a student newspaper led to a national furor over academic freedom. When it broke in 1959, the Leo Koch Case dominated front pages and newscasts. It remained a story for three years. Today it is so thoroughly forgotten that not even Wikipedia, which knows everything, has heard of it.
I was on the campus the whole time and later edited the same campus paper, but I don't want to write about the case. I want to write about what was said in the letter.
It was published in the autumn of 1960. Let me take you back on a trip through time. That was a Puritan era by today's standards.

Critics are furious over the violence of "Modern Warfare 2"--and one scene is causing all the problems.
Yesterday saw the release of one of the most hotly anticipated video games in recent memory, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It's already been called an instant classic. And its extreme levels of violence in game are touching off controversy. Even gamers themselves are expressing dismay, saying the game borders "on snuff."
One scene in particular is causing the trouble: The game places you in the role of a terrorist, mowing down civilian bystanders. The set-up is that you're trying to infiltrate a band of Russian terrorists. To gain their trust, you've got to go on a killing spree at their leader's bidding. As your virtual commanding officer declares, "You don't know what it's already cost to put you next to him. It will cost you a piece of yourself. It'll cost nothing compared to everything you'll save.
